Scouter Wife Posted March 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2013 We'll have a late flight out of Orlando so I'm looking for some suggestions for something to do in Orlando, otherwise my hubby will want to go straight from the ship to the airport...UGH!! We've already seen Cape Canaveral and we'll have my MIL with us so anything with LOTS of walking is out. Since we'll have had beach days in Nassau & Freeport I don't want to go to the beach....any suggestions?

ducklite Posted March 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2013 Are there children in your party? What day of the week are you talking about? The Orlando Museum of Art is a nice place to spend a few hours. In downtown Orlando is Lake Eola park. There are a number of good restaurants in the area, ample free parking on weekends. You can rent paddle or electric boats, feed the swans (please only give them the pellets from the vending machines!), and on some days, enjoy a concert or other performance in the band shell. FlaGrl4Evr Posted March 10, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2013 There is a Ripley's Believe-it-or-not museum in Orlando. That is always good to kill a few hours. http://www.ripleys.com/orlando/ :) .
Orlando Vic Posted March 10, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2013 What time of year would this be? I ask this because it will be getting hot in a few months. By your estimation, how many hours are you trying to kill?
Scouter Wife Posted March 10, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted March 10, 2013 There will be 4 adults and this will be next month. My Mother-in-law is 75 and due to knee replacements can't do a lot of walking.
Orlando Vic Posted March 11, 2013 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2013 If you have a rental car, how about the Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour? http://www.scenicboattours.com/ http://www.clickorlando.com/entertainment/social-local/-/2235614/15815734/-/3vv4dhz/-/index.html
reallyitsmema Posted March 11, 2013 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2013 Get a day room at the Hyatt at the airport. You can hang out at the pool all day, will have a room to store luggage and nap and then grab your flight. They are around $100 last time I checked. Otherwise, I would rent a car and drive to Downtown Disney. Get a wheelchair for MIL and shop and have lunch. Return rental at airport and grab your flight. zdcatc12 Posted March 11, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 11, 2013 You could always go to Jungle Adventures in Christmas and see "Swampy" the 'gator!!
LEESRE Posted March 11, 2013 #11 Share Posted March 11, 2013 When we had a late flight we drove to Celebration, just great for a lazy day. Some good restaurants and a great hotel for drinks on the terrace. You can sit on a rocking chair by the lake and rest or do a little shopping for those who want to walk a little. I've never been so any additional information would be appreciated. I assume we'd probably at least have to pay for parking?

There's also a great movie theater in DD, which serves food and drinks (including alcohol) to your seats (waiters). And the kids will love Disney Quest, also in DD.
