Does anyone else have a PVP blowing up your phone?

Recommended Posts

After a 4 year hiatus and my recent Fantasy cruise, I'm hooked again and I've been stalking prices online. I also called in because we got a casino offer as we were getting off the Fantasy (had to book within two weeks and just wasn't ready).

I guess a PVP picked up my info and for the last week or so he has been calling almost daily.

Do they know I'm logging in and searching bookings online? Is the PVP going to continue to call constantly. It's borderline annoying, but I have yet to pick up because I'm not ready to book. He sounds like a nice guy so I will call when I'm ready.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

Yes, but the PVP is not a carnival PVP it is another line. I went to both Carnival and NCL to check prices and ports of departure and ports of visits. Everyday the NCL PVP calls and leaves a message. We booked with Carnival because they had a trip to fit our schedule close to home. The calls from NCL are becoming annoying.

Yes, they can track your log ins. My was doing the same. I was ignoring the calls. E-mailed her back and said I am not planning to book anytime soon. Calls stopped.

I had been checking with CCL and NCL when we were deciding on our upcoming cruise.... NCL kept calling, and calling, and calling, and calling, and calling, and calling, for weeks, several times per week, Finally they caught me at home, and I told the PVP, "sorry we are leaving in two weeks on Carnival".... The calls from NCL have suddenly stopped (for now I guess) they will probably start up again when we get home from our cruise that we leave on this Saturday :D

My PVP said that anytime that I log in and do a search, she is "required" to call me to follow-up on the "sales lead"...she knows me well and after a couple dozen Carnival cruises she knows I'll book after I do my research and only when I'm ready. We have a system now, she calls and lets the phone ring only once so that she can check it off her list and if I actually want to talk to her I send her a quick email and she calls me right back. My previous PVP tried to harass me with constant calls, I retaliated by booking with a TA and when he still didn't get the point, I booked online then I got myself a fabulous PVP.

Has anybody actually considered answering the phone and saying "no thanks, please don't call"??

They are not mind readers. The PVP's computer system prompts them to call guests who have been on the website recently. If you take a moment and tell them that you prefer not to be called every time you log in to the website, they can notate it on your profile. Otherwise, you are just another name on the "people to call today" list.

My PVP has been my PVP for 8 years, partially because he knows and respects my preferences (which includes not calling every time I log in on the Carnival website).

Wondering the same thing. How hard is it to answer once ask them not to call instead of complaining about the calls?

Just don't log in. You can check prices without logging in or giving them your info. They may still track it, but I am ALWAYS checking prices on cruises and only get called if I log in first.

Yes but past guest prices require entering your past guest number...

No, they don't. You can check the box for past guest, but check the "I don't want to enter my number". Past Guest rates will come up with all of the other options. :)

Yes I need to do that, but the calls have been at 6:45 or 7:00 pm when I'm in the middle of trying to prepare and feed dinner to a 3 and 5 year old. I just haven't wanted to stop and listen to any sales pitch. I kinda figured after 7 or 8 phone calls it might end, but it sounds like I will stay on the list until I communicate clearly.

I don't get calls or emails from Carnival...and I use my PG number. I really have no idea what they've done...I'd actually like to get the sale emails, but can definitely do without the phone calls...but even if they called they'd only get my answering machine as I do not use my home phone.

As a former PVP, I would also suggest you do pick up the phone and let him/her know your preferences (don't call ever, not ready, I'll call you-don't call me). As Tapi mentioned it will be noted in your profile. There's a checkbox if you don't ever want to be called again... And if that's what you want, then him/her will use it.

PVPs get a to-do list, in order of priority, of the calls to make for the day... So it would be much better for both parties if there was communication as to what you want the next step to be. Most people hate calling over and over and over, but hey, that's part of their job.

Another suggestion is if they leave a message with their extension, call them back at a more convenient time for you and have them note whatever your preference is (don't call ever, not ready call in 3 months, I'll call you, etc).

This.

My PVP knows better than to call me just because I log into the Carnival site. She calls me once a year, if we haven't talked in many months, just to check in with me; once a couple days before embarkation to wish me 'bon voyage'; and once a few days after I return from a cruise to welcome me home. That's it. She knows if I want her, I'll call her.

My PVP never called unless she had a good reason or just to say 'hello' every few months if she hadn't heard from me. She, like some of the others, spent 5-6 years as my PVP, so she knew my preferences and knew I would call in when I was ready. She also would laugh, and know that I even had a specific room picked out that I wanted. Unfortunately, my PVP resigned within the last month! I don't want to start all overrrr!

No I haven't experienced it but I doubt they would waste a call overseas haha I guess I am lucky I don't have a PVP I just use the ones on the ship to book the next cruise :) and I do my research in between waiting to go on the next cruise and bring my research with me I am constantly on looking for the next cruise I can only imagine how annoying it is

Norwegian has been annoying me too. I went on their website one afternoon recently, and got a phone call the next day. Yesterday, I got a hand written letter in snail mail from the same guy that called me. But I still haven't got the information I requested on their website. I guess they don't want to tell you about their cruises; they only want you to book one.

Yes, I know that they are not mind readers. My cell phone does not have reception in my place of employment. NCL calls daily and leaves LONG messages. You would think that after leaving several messages a day that they would know I am not booking with them. It is rude to call several times a day. One would think that the caller would leave an extension number so that the call could be returned.

If they call and I can answer the phone at the time I will ask them to remover me from the list.

I have never had this issue with Carnival. However, Carnival seems to have figured out my work schedule and will call me in the early afternoon which is fine because I can answer and have a conversation, plan a cruise, or ask them to call back in a set amount of time.

It is kind of rude to assume that everyone everywhere can answer the phone anytime it rings. Simple phone etiquette by NCL would be helpful (name of caller, extension, only one or two calls per week).
