New to Royal with some questions

New to Royal and just booked the Jewel OTS for Jan 2014. Can't wait to sail out of San Juan again :) A few questions

 

My Time Dining - do you have to make reservations or do you just show up and they seat you?

 

Water/Soda - Can you bring water and Soda onboard?

 

Specialty Restaurants- Do you have to dress up or are they casual?

 

Any good tips/things to know about the Jewel?

My Time Dining - do you have to make reservations or do you just show up and they seat you? Reservations are not required. They will encourage reservations, but you can just show up.

Water/Soda - Can you bring water and Soda onboard? Against the rules, but usually not enforced.

 

Specialty Restaurants- Do you have to dress up or are they casual?

 

Any good tips/things to know about the Jewel? Self leveling pool tables.

Specialty restaurants, fleet-wide, are described on the website as "smart casual". Having said that, we dressed up on Formal Night for Chops and felt wonderful, and on the same formal night I saw casual diners there in jeans and tops.

My time dining reservations are recommended. If you do just show up and it is at a peak time, be prepared to wait. Say 7 or 7:30. So make a reservation for what suits you and use it as your fall back plan if you want to be flexible.

 

The Jewel is a great ship. As all RCL ships are, the staff is very friendly and seems more so on the smaller ships.
