pepsiwoman4711 Posted April 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2013 We booked a cruise planning to include our infant at 6 months. However, does anyone know (because our agent doesn't) does the infant have to be date-specific to 6 months, or just in the 6 months "month" range to be able to cruise. Meaning....exact date of 6 months of age and past that, or within the same month we hit 6 months of age.
Rare 1025cruise Posted April 21, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2013 Exactly 6 months.
Cruisin' Chick Posted April 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2013 You'll have to provide an official copy of your birth certificate. Your child will have to be at least six months, not five months and 27 days or so. Some itineraries require the child to be at least one year in age. Again, you can't round off. notentirelynormal Posted April 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2013 Our cruise to Australia, we had to provide proof of six months. No exceptions.
flhokie Posted April 22, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2013 You will have to provide a birth certificate or passport at boarding & child must be required age of sailing at embarkation.
Julienatul Posted April 22, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 22, 2013 I think as others have said its 6 months from the date of birth. Disney I believe is younger 3 or 4 months, 12 weeks I think.
6rugrats Posted April 22, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 22, 2013 However, does anyone know (because our agent doesn't) does the infant have to be date-specific to 6 months, or just in the 6 months "month" range to be able to cruise. I am really surprised your agent could not find this information, because the answer is easily obtained from every cruise line's webpage I've ever look at. serenity27 Posted April 22, 2013 #8 Share Posted April 22, 2013 They actually calculate it by days. We are leaving on a cruise in June where our son will turn six months the day after embarkation. A supervisor at the cruise line sent us a signed letter stating that because our son will be a certain # of days, he is allowed to cruise.
Sparkygirl Posted April 29, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 29, 2013 It is based on the number of days that the child is old. Most cruiselines are 6 months old to the day. This is not an arbitrary deadline but a health and safety concern for your child. The medical facilities on board are not equipped to handle young infants and their ability to handle infants, toddlers and young children are very limited. Well, I dunno about number of days - when we went on Princess they required "six months" and no mention of days ever came into the many conversations we had with them during pregnancy and after she was born. We made it by mere days as well. Four to be exact. Another week earlier and she would not have been allowed to sail. Maybe the calculation is different for other cruiselines.
