Casino Offers but not for me :)

Recommended Posts

A few months ago I finally saw it in my mailbox, the Carnival Players Club Casino postcard, boy was I excited. Finally, after all my reading on these boards, it does exist. Much to my disappointment though, it wasn't for me :(. Someone else with my address . I emailed my PVP and the Players Club and they told me that it was an error and it would be fixed.

So today, again I open my mailbox and low and behold, 2 postcards. Me & my DH this time. Nope :(. This time, 2 different people, 2 different offers.

I emailed the Players Club again and no response yet but I asked him kiddingly, where's mine? Who knows, maybe there is a Postcard with my name on it in someone elses mailbox.

Has this happened to anyone else recently? Obviously someone doesn't know how to do a mail merge ;)

When you say "postcard" and "mailbox", are you talking about email, or an actual postcard that was delivered to you at home (snail mail) ??

My casino offers have been via email so I'm not sure what postcard you are getting.

Actually postcards in my mailbox. Snail mail. You see that Carnivals Whaletail and it gets you all excited.

Wow, so you are getting mail from Carnival to your street address but with names of other passengers? Not good on Carnival's part. Keep watching your mailbox... hopefully something good will show up with YOUR name on it :)

I get the snal mail also. But if you check under special rates on carnivals web site your casino offer will be there. I usually see the casino offer weeks before I get my snal mail offer.

If I book a cruise under casino offer I just call the players club to see what comps I get.

Point is you don't have to get snal mail to get casino offer if your in there system.

I get 3 a year all thru the mail. Its a card folded up 3 ways. 6 different ship offers and sometimes I still can't do one. The last one they are not giving enough money $400 does not make me book the special cruise. Used to get alot more.

I actually have their names and VIFP #. It would be nice to get my own but I just don't understand how they got my address for 3 different people. One person I could somewhat understand but 3

Even thought I spend most of my nights in the Casino when I sail, I'm obviously not spending enough because I've never received any type of offer from the Casino for a reduced cruise. I have received some free gifts in my room and some Casino cash but thats about it.

We've gotten the postcards several times but it was never the ship we wanted or not in the time frame we wanted.

For our last cruise, the TA called them with our ship and sailing dates and the different discounts that we qualified for (over 55, Military, etc) and the person she talked with said that we also qualified for the casino rate which at that time was the lowest of the rates. I was surprised because we never got a postcard for that sailing.

I would like to put my .2 in on this thread. I called up the PC and inquired about the supposed discount. To my surprise and shock, it was only $80 cheaper than the ES rate. When I asked why (we have booked 3-4 casino rate cruises with CCL, and they have been hundreds less each time) she told me that the discount is on the "Fun Select" rate, not past guest or any other rate. Have NEVER heard of this. I was ready to book, but so shocked I told her I'd have to think about it. Had dh work the numbers for me, and the 25% discount she said I was getting was really 11%. Will call back today "armed" with the numbers, and see what is going on. Yes, I would be getting $100 cash back, but I would get that anyway - even if I booked a regular rate. I was also told there was no way to combine rates - which I knew. IMHO, at this point in time it would make more sense for me to book the ES rate and hope for a price drop of more than $80. I would not be able to get a price drop by booking the casino rate. (The cruise I am interested in is during President's Week in Feb., so there is plenty of time for prices to decrease) It is an $80 gamble - but heck, I like to gamble!!:D

On the Conquest two weeks ago, I was HAND DELIVERED my 30% future cruise discount and $150 Casino cash offer while I was STILL AT THE SLOT MACHINE!!!:eek:

Does this mean I was there too long and spent tooo much???..lol I ended up winning a bunch thought, so it was well worth it!! :D

I did call when I got home and they applied it to my 9/22 Breeze cruise that was already booked..

I booked a Casino rate cruise for August...getting $500 cash back so in the end lower then ES rate. But, Casino Rate has dropped 3 times since I booked and have called and had rate adjusted every time. So crusie is getting cheaper and cheaper plus the $400 makes it the cheapest rate possible for my cruise. You certainly have to do the numbers to see what rate is most advantageous.

We were able to get an ES price drop on January 2013 cruise because of Casino offer. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I could also get it on the 2nd leg of my B2B. I thought I could only use it on one cruise.

When I check for cruises using my VIFP#, a casino offer does not show up.

When I check using my SO's VIFP#, the casino offer shows up.

I got a letter in the mail from them that I didn't pay too much attention to, unfortunately. It did have a credit voucher on it, so I have that still...but, the last 2 I booked, casino rates show up for me on the website. I was able to upgrade my cabin for one already booked and save about $100 from the total of the smaller cabin...so not bad. I also could have moved up to a suite for maybe 200 more total for 4 people...but I needed a different configuration.

Check the website and see if casino rates come up for you when you're booking.

Almost forgot...they had my address mixed up on the website and I had to change it. They're nutty over there. And they STILL have my VIFP listed as the wrong number, so I show 0 cruises there...but it works in booking with the right number if I do it manually. Their system is insane.

You should book ES, But right after you book ES price match it to the casino rate to get the best of both worlds. That's how I have always done it.

Just remember there are some restrictions on ES you should be aware of before you book es.

I agree with booking ES and then price match to Casino Rate.

We booked ES while on our Jan. 2013 B2B. I'm waiting for the casino rates to be extended to our 2014 B2B, then I'll ask for the price drop.

I did this for one of our 2013 cruises. However, I didn't realize I could also have asked for it for the 2nd cruise of the B2B. Dummy!

The postcards I received said UP TO 35% off the FUN SELECT rate on any cruise booked between a certain period and booked by a certain date. Also, the 2 ladies qualified for Casino cash. One for $75 and one for $50 so the postcards are geared towards your play amount I assume since the Casino cash was different.

I did hear back from Michael and he said he was checking into it for me and will get back to me. I'm just curious how they had my address for 3 different people.

Something is definitely wrong.

So to be clear,, if you book early saver rate and then see a cheaper casino rate, you can get the reduction and still qualify for your casino cash?

Just got off the ship and see that the latest online casino offer expired 4/23. We were going to wait for next casino offer but if we book early saver, we could still take advantage of a future casino offer, correct?

  • 2 weeks later...

We are just home from the Freedom and hubby and I both received letters while we were playing slots, offering us casino cash and a 20% discount on our next cruise......if we book within 2 weeks and sail before Oct. 31. IA said we were going to book anyway but weren't cruising until December and was told that the Promo department should be able to work that out. Apparently not. I called the promo number and there was absolutely no flexibility. So...instead of booking while we were on the cruise and getting $250 obc for the next cruise...I opted to call the Promo number when we got home and got NOTHING. I'm still going to book the December cruise for us but I'm not thrilled with Carnival at this moment.

I always book ES on all my cruises. I was worried that I wouldn't get the casino rate, as I booked more than 2 weeks after my cruise letter said, and I am not sailing within the 4 month window my letter stated. I was happy to get any kind of casino rate. As of now, the ES rate for my cruise hsa gone up $400, so I am way ahead with the casino rate!:)
