Insurance...Princess vs Travelguard

If you buy your air with Princess, then, I suggest going with Princess - If you buy your air on your own, then, Travelguard or some other independent insurance would be better.

IF there are pre-existing conditions involved - I would go with a private company and would purchase insurance right away after deposit (check pre-exisiting condition clause with each company). Most of the time you need to purchase it within 7-14 days of deposit to have pre-existing conditions covered.

As Ron said, if you purchased air on your own and a pre or post cruise hotel, then a third party carrier is for you. Princess' insurance ONLY covers what is purchased through Princess. You will find it is cheaper than Princess also.

One of the main reasons to NOT purchase cruise insurance from the cruise line is if the company goes belly up, you could loose everything, however, that is not a problem with Princess at this time.

Additionally, with Princess insurance, you can cancel at anytime for any reason and receive up to 90% credit for a future cruise. That is a really nice perk.
