Shaelyn Posted May 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 25, 2013 I'm reading a lot about using a water proofing spray on shoes. What does this do to the shoes? It won't damage them or maybe change the color somewhat? Is there a brand that is better?
capriccio Posted May 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2013 We always waterproof our shoes for Alaska (and will for our British Isles cruise this summer) - there is nothing worse than soggy feet! We just use what's sold in the shoe department at Walmart (I think it is Kiwi but am not at home right now to check) and have never had an issue. Putterdude Posted May 25, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2013 The last pair that I waterproofed are now some 4 or 5 years old and I still wear them for gardening and washing the car...no problem.
Shaelyn Posted May 25, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted May 25, 2013 Thank you, that answered that question. Now, will that work on blue jeans?
ShannonSC2 Posted May 25, 2013 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2013 Thanks for the information. I will have to check at Wal-Mart for some next time I go. Like you said nothing like soggy, cold wet feet!
Shmoo here Posted May 25, 2013 #6 Share Posted May 25, 2013 Thank you, that answered that question. Now, will that work on blue jeans? I got our waterproofing spray at our Big 5 Sporting Goods store. I used it on our shoes as well as our down parkas and hoodies. It worked great.

BuckeyeMark Posted May 26, 2013 #8 Share Posted May 26, 2013 Usually what you buy is a silicone spray. It will NOT make something 100% waterproof but it will sure make your shoes, jeans, etc. a lot more water repellent.

jnc411 Posted May 27, 2013 #11 Share Posted May 27, 2013 Thanks , I had not thought about water proofing our sneekers , but sounds like a good idea. Thanks
Shaelyn Posted May 27, 2013 Author #12 Share Posted May 27, 2013 Thank you! I've been doing more research and sounds like you can use it on pretty much anything and it will wash out. I figured once it got wet though, it's probably not as waterproof. Am I right?
