Seabourn versus Silversea ?

Thanks to all the comments and insights from those if you having cruised on both SS and SB. Really helped ! It has made me want to book a SB cruise to be able to compate my forthcoming SS one! I toured the Seabourn Sojourn while it was docked in Tilbury London the other week, and loved the look of the ship.

Many speak about recent management changes affecting on-board service and food quality, and will check boards to see what they are.

We're quite new to cruising. SS was our first cruise. We have 30 odd days on Silversea, and so far just 18 on Seabourn.

At this point we prefer Silversea overall.

Following our Seabourn cruise we said it would be highly unlikely that we would choose them again, but circumstance has led to us giving them another try,so I'll do a comparison when we return from our Sojourn cruise in a couple of weeks.

Ravenscroft - I have just looked through this thread, and have noticed that while you have had less than good experiences on Seabourn, Tilly has on Silversea! We have had pretty good as well as not so good on SS, and mostly very good but the odd glitch on SB. Neither line, or any other, is perfect all the time! Or, indeed, to different people's taste. Do hope your next SB is a very good one.

Lincslady, I agree with you.

We're definitely going to the Sojourn with an open mind. It's been almost 6 months since our Quest cruise, and we do now feel that SB deserves another chance.

There were parts of the Quest cruise that were marvellous, especially the first few days. And the huge majority of our fellow cruisers on that cruise had a fabulous time.

We don't expect perfection and we do keep in mind that each line will have it's own strengths and weaknesses.

I'm hoping things go well on the Sojourn because it would be nice to have both Seabourn and Silversea to choose from in the future, as we don't see any other cruise lines that appeal to us. Crystal would be a definite contender if the ships were much smaller. Same for Regent, and although they do have a smaller ship it seems to have a lot of problems with vibration.

We were Holland America loyalists, at least in the sense that HAL was for years and years our cruise line of choice, and just last year started looking for a new cruise line. We sailed on the Silversea Wind last year and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the cruise. There were even ex-HAL staff on the Wind including one who remembered us from a few years ago on the Oosterdam. Just yesterday we booked our first Seabourn cruise on the Sojourn so this thread is very interesting. We're forever the optimists so we'll step on the Sojourn next year full of anticipation of a great cruise.

Vistaman,

Perhaps SB and SS offer so few premium liquors for an upcharge is that they offer so many included.

Yes Henry,I had noticed this post and thought it a little odd.

As you say with most premium liquors included I have never needed to ask the bar manager to purchase anything ashore.

The only thing that we did ask for that they did not have was Horlicks for a bedtime drink.:D
