Any ideas on what is going on with Explorer? I noticed that Erky said, after break, he's not back on her until April 19... that the sailing FOLLOWING the one he originally said. Assuming Leigh is on same schedule?

Sounds about right. If their break starts Feb 9, then it should end mid-April. We just didn't have the exact date, so thank you!

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that their 2 month vacation, that begins on feb 9, will end on April 9... Maybe erky's finger slipped and the 1 is a mistake...

 

 

Sounds about right. If their break starts Feb 9, then it should end mid-April. We just didn't have the exact date, so thank you!

Per Topi's morning show on Serenade,neither he nor Chris, the Activities Director will be on the ship as CD for the cruise departing today. Topi stated he would be going back to Finland for a bit. The husband/wife team (their names escape me at the moment) who were on Grandeur a few years ago will be taking over on Serenade. I definitely feel sorry for Topi - the passengers loved him this cruise and he's now having to announce every hour about the propulsion issues that cropped up last night/this morning.

Quantum OTS - Jimmy Rhodes will be taking out the ship and continuing on as its regular CD. Ken Rush will also be onboard for the first 6-8 weeks doing behind the scenes duties to provide a smooth take out

 

Radiance OTS - Amy Fickert began on November 16 until March 3, and will return after her break. (who will be filling-in during Amy's break? for 2 months?)

 

Rhapsody OTS - Ken Jones Nov 19 through Feb 1. Graham Seymour returns from his break on Feb 1 for 6 months through August 1 (per Graham: Ken is a Canadian gent, funny, great stage presence)

 

Serenade OTS - John Blair started February 1 until March 16, then Anthony Richards.

 

Splendour OTS - Michelle Pimentinha started Dec 8 for the South American season

 

Vision OTS - Rico du Breil for the Panama season, Nov 11 through April 26

 

Voyager OTS - Luke Aerowsmith October 24 for the repositioning and for the Australian season. Lixin Fang is expected to return for the Asian season

 

 

Richard Spacey is now Manager of Entertainment, Activities and Family Strategy Development for Celebrity Cruises in their corporate offices in Miami, working alongside Becky Thompson.

 

Dave Chapman has left RCCL. He is taking an extended break, and then he will be moving over to another cruiseline.

I noticed someone mentioned the name Erky. We sailed on Rhapsody from Galveston several years ago...like 2006? Do you know if the above mentioned Erky could be our Erky from Turkey? We absolutely loved him. He could call a mean bingo!!:D We still talk about him after all these years. If it is him what is he doing now?

Gordon Whatman will probably finish March 15 because the 10th would be in the middle of the cruise :)

Erky from Turkey is the activities manager on Explorer, but this will be his last contract with RCI. He is returning to Turkey in June to marry and to work as an airplane pilot

Freedom OTS - Mike Hunnerup from December 22 through mid-late February. (exact date? then who?)

Independence OTS - Joff Eaton November 2 to the end of March (exact date?). Joff will be returning on May 17 through Sept 2014 (Fill-in for April and May 2014 not yet known).

Oh no...I hate to hear that. I had been hoping and praying all this time that we would have Richard again. And then my heart sank when I saw his tweet about going to Celebrity. I am happy for him, but what a loss for RCCL.
