Tiger Cruiser Posted June 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2013 On our May Western Mediterranean cruise, we had a stop in Marseille. We were interested in a wine tour so we booked with Provence Wine Tours. We were picked up right outside the ship, then visited two wineries (complete visits with tour and tastings). After that we hit another wine tasting in a shop, then on to Aix en Provence for lunch and shopping. There were six of us in a van so not a crowded bus tour by any means. This tour worked out great, and I would recommend it if you are looking for a wine tour while stopped at Marseille.

Very nice of you to share:D
Sue Do-Over Posted June 25, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 25, 2013 In Marseilles, we booked with Tour Designer in Provence (tour.designer@provence-travel.com), with Catherine D'antuono. She wasn't available herself that day, but sent Marjolaine. We booked kind of last minute, and hadn't settled on a plan for the day. Marjolaine arrived on time, in a clean, roomy van, with a list of options that we put together on the fly. We started in Aix in Provence, toured a church and some historic sites, then to a farmers market where we bought baguettes, cheese and fruit. Our guide was very helpful translating for us while we tasted samples and made purchases. We then toured an olive grove/press, and tasted several oils. Marjolaine had clearly been there before -- she took us through the factory and shop herself. On to Le Boux, the ruins of a castle on a mountain top, where we enjoyed the picnic we bought earlier, and topped it off with gelato. We briefly visited the home of Van Gogh and some roman ruins (school groups made it too crowded to stay long). Then on to St. Remy for more historic sites and a little shopping. We paid 570e for 8 people -- and enjoyed every minute of the day. We thought it was worth every cent. Small group tour, definitely the way to go. Tiger Cruiser Posted June 26, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted June 26, 2013 Sure the cost for the Provence Wine Tours excursion was $ 95/person. We paid in cash at the end of the day and added a little tip. We had a group of six, and they advised that a group of eight was the maximum. We're going next May and I can't get my favourite guide as she doesn't do Marseille in high season. Really appreciate the help.:D
