Cruising CARNIVAL MIRACLE to ALASKA June 2013 REVIEW

Recommended Posts

Great review! I am enjoying reliving the memories. We've been on four cruises to Alaska. It's a cruise we could take every year. I enjoyed your pictures of Tracy Arm Fjord. Isn't it a beautiful place! We're headed to Norway in a couple of months, just hope it can compare!

Have you been on Carnival for Alaska or on other lines? Enjoy Norway, Are you going on a cruise or land tour only?

Loving your review

Can you still go to casino and get lanyard foe ship to sail card?

Yes, on the first day the casino people were punching cards and giving the lanyards away. Since I had already brought a lanyard from a previous Carnival Cruise I went to guest services and had them only hole punch the card.

Thank you so much for the review! I really enjoyed the comments and pictures as we are planning on taking the Miracle for our first Alaskan cruise and it helped so much with our planning process. I'm also amazed that in most picture on the ship there are almost no people---just the ship. I know that takes patience to wait for folks to move out of the shot. Thanks again!

I was thinking the same thing! It looks empty. Did anyone ever use the pool? Are there still deck parties for sailaway? Sorry I didn't have a chance to look at the Fun Times. I just enjoyed going through your pictures.:)

How was the seas on the second day of cruise?

Wondering if hubby should put patch on the evening we leave Seattle?

The morning and early afternoon of the second cruise of my cruise, the seas were rocky. The ship was vibrating up and down more than side to side, but the side to side movement was still present. In the late afternoon the ship's movement and vibrations were much more calm.

Putting on the patch the evening after leaving Seattle would probably be a good idea if your cruise is like mine.

Hope this helps!

There were people who used the pools in the afternoon. I don't know if there were deck parties, but I will read my Funtimes and type a response as soon as I know.

I looked and I don't think that there were any deck parties. I could be wrong, but I did not see anything.

Loved the review. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into writing for the benefit of others. I'm sure you go back and re-read and look at pictures. I've only written one review and I still go back and read it.

We are in an oceanview cabin with 4 people (my husband and I and two kids). Do you know if that set up will be the same as yours with the upper bed pulled down over the couch? Also, was there any night that there was a theme for dressing other than elegant night? Is there anything you brought with you that you didn't need or anything you didn't bring that you wished you had? Thanks again.

I am sorry but I do not know how the set up of an ocean view cabin is. I think the layout of cabins can vary. I do not think that there was a theme for dressing other than formal night.

For Alaska I wished I would have brought t-shirts. The weather was unseasonably hot and I had only packed warm clothing. Also consider bringing a small toothbrush holder because the bathroom counter can get wet at times and you never know how clean the counter really is. :)

I hope this helps and I am sorry it took me a long time to respond. Please feel free to ask me more questions!

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been looking at the weather for 10 days out and it does seem more mild than I expected. Will definitely pack a few warmer weather shirts. Good tip on the toobrush holder, I think I have a couple that suction cup to the mirror. Looking foward to packing.

One of the best cruise reviews that I've ever read. Thank you so much for taking the time to create and share it!

DH and I have just this week begun to consider an Alaskan cruise and I think you've sold us. Dumb question - which would be better, in your opinion, a port or starboard side balcony? I know we'd get to see both sides as we change direction on the return, but from previous experience I know that sometimes the ship moves faster on the return to port, so you may not have as much time to really observe/take pictures from your balcony.

Thanks again for sharing your cruise!

I am not sure what side is better. On my cruise the starboard side saw the pier in Skagway & Victoria. The port side got to see the pier in Juneau & Ketchikan. In Tracy Arm both sides got to see the scenery because the ship turned around and had to sail out.

However, two weeks later the ship docked differently in the ports and the side that saw the pier was completely different. The view a certain side sees will be based on the Captain's decision to dock a certain way.

Consider starting a thread here on CC and get other's opinions.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any more questions!
