We are trying to plan our own "look abouts" in Juneau, does anyone know the price of a taxi to the Glacier Gardens or to the State Museum ? Would like to take one instead of the bus but any ideas or help would be great .

Sorry I don't know the taxi prices. But, the State Museum is only about a mile from where the ships dock. We walked it easy.

As mentioned the State Museum is walkable, get a local map, there is a kiosk right outside the library. IF there, you are also near the Governor's House, beautiful totem out front, the capital, and the Juneau Douglas Museum. All worthwhile. Farther walk, is the historic Cemetery, and Last Chance Mine.

You can call, Capital or Evergreen Cab companies for estimates, but I would guess, $25+++

If you have mobility/knee issues, this will be tough walking, IMO. The City Museum/Totem and Governor's Mansion are uphill from the State Museum, either requiring about 4 stories of stairs or a steep street. If it's a weekday, it's possible to 'cheat' by using the elevator inside the State Office Building across the street from the city museum. The cemetery is past the State Museum by about 7 blocks.

The Last Chance Mine would be a hike by most people's estimation, requiring a steep climb through city streets, then a couple miles rise on Basin Road. And it has odd closure hours; be sure to check before trying to go. It's a shame, as it's one of my favorite sites to take visitors, but without a car, it's a tough sight to work in as a tourist.
