wingnt68 Posted July 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2013 Several years ago we sailed on Destiny and we were able to buy liquor the store within the port and as long as it was in our carryone we were able to board the ship and take it to our room. We are sailing on Valor in February and are wondering if that is still the same.

Next, you go through the scanners, and you just place them on the belt, then you walk the zig zagging passages to the ship/ramo. If you are so inclined, you can place the bags from the store into your backpack or carryon by stopping in an area that is not observable. We saw many do this, then walk right by the liquor table when boarding. This set-up only applies to OSJ, in other ports the scanners are as you board, (although many just walk right past the liquor table). On the other hand, are wine drinkers. We boarded with our two allowed bottles, unloaded, and made another trip out to buy two more (along with more water and soda). I guess in theory, we could have done this a number of times. Also, the porta-shots in the luggage made it with no problem.
Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted July 20, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2013 Our traveling companions took a Bacardi Rum factory tour. they bought 6 bottles of rum and carried it onto the ship. The husband had them in a Bacardi bag and tried to hand them over once to the scanner. [who would not take them] He was never asked for the liquor. They bought them as gifts and never opened a single bottle on the cruise. :p

So true, and if you are on Disney, you can bring on as much alcohol as you want! :D The OP is sailing on the Valor with Carnival, which embarks right from the dock in OSJ.
