Platinum question

Recommended Posts

Our first cruise since turning Platinum has two ports that we tender to.

I will be platinum, and dh and ds will not be. Will they get to accompany me off the ship?

Normally it's not a big deal, but we have booked a private tour with .bz in belize and it was mentioned to me that we should be off as early as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, everyone in your cabin will get VIP embarkation/debarkation and VIP tendering to the port along with you. Congratulations on making platinum! :D

We just turned Platinum and we loved it!

When you ready to get on the tender just walk down to Guest Relations and they will walk you down and put you on the tender......(no tender tickets needed)

Is was nice'!!!!!!!!!!L

Each Platinum/PlatMinus guest can take up to 10 Non-Platinum/Non-PlatMinus guests with them.

Don't bother visiting Guest Relations. They will waive you through when you flash your Platinum card down on Deck 0. It may seem like a DYKWIA situation, but it is the easiest way to go about using your priority tendering.

But it's nice getting help down to deck 0. I'm not into cutting by all those people in line with out a escort.

Why not? It is only a suggestion to request assistance getting down to Deck 0. You just need to inform the first crew member that you see on Deck 0 that you are Platinum/PlatMinus and they will escort you through the line.

PlatMinus is Faster to the Fun.

Edit: The number has been thrown around previously by the brand ambassador, as well as in discussions about Platinum benefits being limited due to abuse.

Really? We were told it was only extended to those in our cabin.

Easier to get someone in a uniform from Guest Services to get you through the crowd than looking for someone down on deck zero who isn't giving out maps, selling water etc.

so you're saying each FTTF can take an additional 10 folks via priority tender, right?

does that apply to priority embarkation and disembarkation?

No. You can only bring kids under 18, guests in the same stateroom, and any guests in a stateroom using the same credit card as you. You can switch the credit card at anytime at Guest Services.

Priority disembarkation, just ask Guest Services for more Zone 1 tags. They don't care, they just want you off the ship.

I don't think that's correct, I've heard/read that the Platinum perks (and now FTTF) applied only to your cabin or minor children in an adjoining cabin, not a group of 10.

PlatMinus is a new one on me... I think FTTF or F2F is easier.

PlatMinus is an industry standard term, coined by frequent travelers, that is used to define a status of either a lesser form of an elite tier or offers less perks using the same elite tier name.

It is said on many threads on FlyerTalk.

I thought that they were "kettles"??

Usually "kettle" refers to someone who flies once/twice each year and doesn't have any status with an airline.

Edit:

"A kettle flyer is the stereotypical flyer who travels by air once or twice a year and is completely oblivious to what frequent travelers know. Kettle flyers typically bring pillows onboard, ask how long the flight will be, travel to leisure destinations, marvel at how nice the leather seats in coach are, keep glancing down at their BP as they board to check their seat number and check out each row (as if row 34 might be in the front of the plane), and sit and do nothing during the flight (neglecting to bring a book or iPod). That's not a complete definition, but you get the picture..."

Edit 2:

"Kettle

42 up, 12 down

An irregular air traveler (1-2x/year) who feels entitled to use first class and premium check-in counters, attempts to board during first class or elite boarding groups. Kettles are often oblivious to boundaries such as curtains separating first class from main cabin, or by crowding around Priority boarding lanes to prevent premium customers from accessing them.

Airline passenger traveling with too much luggage both out of touch with and unaware of airport boarding and security procedures is a Kettle."

Edit 3:

"PlatMinus" is thrown around a lot on this thread:
