Why oh why when I at last get an invite is it held on the day we are in Athens?

And we are less than 200 days!

why would they have the luncheon on a port day, every cruise we have been invited its been a sea day

Only on sea days Dude, check your dates again. Been many times - never when we're in port.
It's always been on a sea day, even on very port-intensive cruises. Cocktail parties (the decision is up to the Captain whether it's a lunch or cocktail party) are at night.

What ship are you on?

As the other respondents state the Most Travelled Lunches and are always on seadays. Woukd make no sense at all to have them on port days!
