Hurricane/Tropical Storm

Just checked the NOAA Hurricane site and it look like Tropical Storm Erin is heading towards Bermuda (just in time for our trip next week).

Does anyone know what Celebrity might do? Do they alter their course? Go somewhere else?

Several years ago on an RCL cruise out of Bayonne, they diverted to New England because of a storm heading directly for Bermuda.

NOAA has Erin far south of Bermuda by Tuesday of next week and they have it as a Tropical Depression. When you go to the NOAA website, don't just look at the path, also read the discussion. You get a lot of very useful and smart information there.

Worst case scenario, we'll be whale watching in New England... I'm more worried about rough seas from the distant system stirring things up. Pack your dramamine or whatever your choice of meds are.

Been in a few. Have learned a lot. On board it isn't really that bad, the captain makes sure that the ship and passengers are safe.

Worst case is those that have flights the day of departure and have to try to reschedule because the ship was delayed getting into port.

The other is if you have parked at the pier to make sure that you have a full tank of gas to be able to get out of town. If the storm hits the port many gas stations may be closed because of power outages and those Taht are open have long lines. Also have some cash available as many transactions will be cash only because of the power outages.
Erin will probably be dead by Sunday.
Yes.Erin is now a tropical depression. not expected to regain tropical storm status, although its possible it could be a smaller tropical storm. I think the worse case for our cruise ( I am on the same one) is that on the way to Bermuda the seas could be rough. This is assuming the storm heads toward s the NE coastline. The storm will be past Bermuda by the time we dock on Wednesday, so worries there.

thankfully, getting to Bermuda only takes a day or so, and the captain has over 2 days to get there. So he can take a different route around the storm and/or slow down to alleviate some of the rough seas. Best case for us, the storm just stays out to sea and it will be a non-event.

I wouldnt worry about it.
