My best friend and I have just booked a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise for January with Royal Caribbean. Our ship is Allure of the Seas. This is our first time cruising and we want to make the most of it an not miss a thing. Any tips of things you wish you knew before your first cruise would be greatly appreciated. Also anyone who has been on Allure of the Seas and has restaurant recommendation I'd love to hear them. Our ports are Nassau, St Thomas and St Martin. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Cruise Critic!

Going on Allure you will likely not get to do everything - and that's ok. On most ships there are more things to do than hours in a day. On the megaships that is only multiplied. Pick and choose carefully or you will come home exhausted.

You have joined your roll call which is a great way to find out what others on your cruise are planning. You might also want to look at the ports of call forum to find anything (either on an excursion or on your own) you might want to do in port.

Hope you have a wonderful first cruise (it likely will not be your last)!

To get the most out of your onshore time, get a guidebook....your library has them, if you don't want to buy one. It will show you EVERYTHING that is available....then, you can decide HOW to do it!

Yes....just read the boards about your ship....it IS impossible to do it all, so only do the things that interest YOU! No need to feel you have to do everything! This is a vacation, after all!

The best place to get port information on Cruise Critic would be on the ports of call boards.

For Nassau:

For St. Thomas:

For St. Martin:

A big welcome to Cruise Critic.

Sailed the Allure in May with the same ports of call. First, be sure to see all the shows. They are great. In Nassau, we just walked over to the British Colonial Hilton and hung on the beach. Wonderful! You can book thu these folks or just walk over and pay 5.00 more

In St Marten we did the sailing regatta that we booked thru the cruise line. I would do it again. So much fun

You will have a great time! :D

Welcome to cruising. Remember that this is supposed to be a vacation.

It is impossible to do everything on this ship, so choose wisely.

You may need some more time off to recover from your vacation. :D:D
