AmberTeka Posted August 29, 2013 #26 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Thank you for your input... hadn't even considered that! Makes me feel lots better! :D Next time you book ES.....make the time to check the rates every day. At the site. The fare checker does not count Military. We are military. We have $600 OBC. But most of that came from a Florida Residents rate or Sail from Florida sale. And it stayed for over a month. I checked that big online Agency once a day. Sometimes. First clue to a price drop. I checked the Carnival site every day. I did the rate checker everyday. I read Cruise Critic every day. It earned us $600. A few minutes a day...paid off. This is my first time ES but we are VIP. I can't imagine booking another rate now. Our getting military rates....most likely helped too. Plus we are Seniors. Florida Resident. Military..already said that and on this cruise they have had a CLUBVIP rate sometimes which is the same as Miltiary. I am totally thrilled to have that OBC. We had planned a Cruise on HAL next March with our SIL DD and DG............now. Early Saver...I might have to book carnival again. We are already booked for NYE. Fascination. No ES on that sailing. Good Luck. Have a ball on your cruise.
MrFunInTheSun Posted August 29, 2013 #27 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Not all rooms for the casino rate are free. Many have an additional discounted rate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. Please excuse any typographical errors.
carsastic Posted August 29, 2013 #28 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Beside comped or discounted rooms via players club there is also exclusive offers / non published rates that they do They have the price drops down to a science
mustardgirl Posted August 30, 2013 Author #29 Share Posted August 30, 2013 People come on this board and brag and brag about it. That FREE cabin...ha. They will drop thousands in the Casino. So they pay. NOTHING is free. nothing. It ended my OBC drop too but I had already reaped a bit. Is this the SEPT. 14,2013 Sailing on the Breeze? One day they oodles of Cove Balconies...the next day.......none. And again..They pay. Just in the casino. My DH goes there too..and some of the people there........well, it is their money.they made it. It is their fun. But he better not do that. He takes a set amount of money..when that is gone it is gone. And he only plays the tables on cruises. And he is quite lucky. And not a fool. He knows that gambling in the end..seldom pays off. No, it's the Oct 12 sailing of the breeze... pretty much the same thing happened tons of coves and balconies one day and the next day almost all are gone. I realize that those that go to the casino may end up paying just as much... but can't blame a girl for wanting to get more obc (I was hoping to get enough to pay for our auto tips :) )

Good Luck. Have a ball on your cruise. That's probably the problem... I check several times a day  so I noticed the rooms going fast, when nothing had been happening for a long time.. (add that to reading the threads here and I figured that most of them were going to the casino players club for free  ) BTW thanks, I have no doubt we will have fun no matter what the total of obc is. Have a great cruise yourself!!!

Ematic81 Posted August 30, 2013 #32 Share Posted August 30, 2013 Didn't your mother ever teach you to worry about yourself??? Trust and believe if carnival is giving gamblers a free cruise imagine how much money they must have already loss in the casino. OBC , price drops are extra not a given. I believe Carnival will do away with that program soon because of all the confusion.

spyingeyes Posted August 30, 2013 #34 Share Posted August 30, 2013 I just booked a seven night on the Magic for 30 March for FREE. My wife and I won nearly 3K on our last cruise so I can only assume they are looking to get it back. This will be our sixth cruise and the first free offer we have ever received...we have won on some cruises and lost on others so I'm not sure why we got the free cruise this time but we happily booked it. golfadj Posted August 30, 2013 #36 Share Posted August 30, 2013 Yes frequent gamblers get special rates based on how much they have spent in the casino on previous cruises. There is a guy on my next cruise who got an aft wrap for less than my interior. Frustrating yes' date=' but I don't spend any money in the casino unless I am buying a drink at the bar.[/color'] I am no economist or business man, but Carnival would not give a cabin away unless they are confident that they will make up the lost revenue somewhere else. So in the end, I am sure Carnival makes money off of guests like the free cabin people and cruisers like you and me. To put it in Vegas terms......."The house always wins". Enjoy your cruise, it is the best vacation value that I know of. The house does win almost all the time. BIL used to tell us about all the time he went to casino and won several thousand dollars. After the second time asked DW why doesnt he tell us when he loses. Turns out he lost much more than he won. No such thing as a free cruise. Off my soapbox now, carry on
terryinal Posted August 30, 2013 #37 Share Posted August 30, 2013 I use to be a gambler and would get comps everywhere I went. I can assure you it may seem free but 90 % of the time I paid for the free stuff.
TerReuv Posted August 30, 2013 #38 Share Posted August 30, 2013 No, it's the Oct 12 sailing of the breeze... pretty much the same thing happened tons of coves and balconies one day and the next day almost all are gone. I realize that those that go to the casino may end up paying just as much... but can't blame a girl for wanting to get more obc (I was hoping to get enough to pay for our auto tips :) ) Pretty sure there is no "may" about it. People who gamble enough to get a free cruise offer have dropped thousands and thousands of dollars in the casino. They do not offer free cabins for someone who gambles in the hundreds. Believe me, those people have more than paid for their cruise several times over. Also, did you ever consider that a group could have booked those rooms too? Just because some folks on your roll call say they have a free cabin does not mean that they booked all those in your category. You really need to stop sweating the small stuff. happy cruzin Posted August 30, 2013 #39 Share Posted August 30, 2013 All the rooms in my category are disappearing and I have a feeling it's because they are just giving them away... I know from reading here on cc that several have already been given free rooms! Now here is why I don't like it... now I can't get price drops! My cruise didn't seem to be selling out well from what I could tell, so I thought I would get to have some more obc! but nooo instead they are giving them away. Now with that said, I don't care if they give away the rooms in other categories, I understand Carnival wanting those that gamble to be on the cruise. Just frustrated and disappointed I won't be getting more obc. :( "MORE" obc.... so you've already gotten some?? THIS is exactly why - when you book a cabin you have to be happy with the price and not expect price drops. In ALL of my Carnival cruises I have gotten price drops on only two. Bottom line - they are going to do what they have to do to fill the ship.
TerReuv Posted August 30, 2013 #40 Share Posted August 30, 2013 Perhaps I haven't been back because I do have other things to do.... Or perhaps people took this post WAY WAY too seriously... I know not every room left in my category was given away! I also was reading through threads about the casino players club giving away rooms... and them discussing how the people that got picked were picked and that it was random and that some spent a lot, and others didn't. My post was more in humor than being mad, but a lot took it wrong... Seemed more like you were taking it too seriously. Others were asking what the big deal was and you kept saying Carnival was giving all the rooms away for free, which clearly is not true. I get that you want OBC. I was happy when we got some this time. Last time we got nothing. But, the way your first post came across was kinda whiny about the whole thing. Sorry if it was interpreted differently than you intended but seems that everyone got that impression. Good luck with getting some more OBC, I hope it happens for you. Enjoy your holiday weekend. Enjoy your holiday weekend. that was why i asked for a clarification but I don't think she ever responded to my question but since she was bombarded with post maybe she missed it. I was just puzzled when out of the gate she was humorously complaining about her category being gone because they were giving them away free but had no problem with them giving away cabins in other categories. Glad to see that she was just joking.:) Bill
Sarahsea1 Posted August 30, 2013 #42 Share Posted August 30, 2013 My sisters last cruise she ended up with $900 in OBC and upgraded to a balcony from an inside cabin. Granted this was in the middle of all the trouble carnival was having.
