Jazzed! We're booked on the Western Caribbean New Year's cruise! We secured room 516 which is a portal room on the second deck at the front of the ship.

Anyone have any insight into staying at the front of the Ryndam? We don't suffer from motion sickness so that is not a problem.

Anyone do a New Year's cruise on the Ryndam before? Thoughts welcome.

Yeah! We are booked too on this cruise. We have never done this itinerary or been to any of the ports. It is also our anniversary so we have booked a vow renewal.

The roll call is very quiet - come over and check us out.

Our first cruise was to Alaska on the Ryndam, way back in the 90's. We loved it. We were cruise virgins then and took what we were given and never thought to book a room we might like. Our room was on the promenade deck near the back. We loved it. We had a view and our room was two doors down from an exit to the deck. I can't answer for a porthole room near the front as it depends on what is above and below you and how rough the seas are.

We had a storm just out of Glacier Bay. We really rocked and rolled. Many got sick but we didn't, thankfully. For us, the storm added to the trip. No one attended the midnight dessert but my hubby and a few others. I felt bad for those who were ill! Had to be awful for them. It didn't make any difference where your room was that night. We all rocked and rolled!

We did a Panama Canal cruise and opted for a less expensive room (low down) with a large window and were miserable. Every night, and very early in the morning, there was a lot of moving of what sounded like steel on steel. We got no sleep! They would not move us either. That cruise was on another cruise line that we have come to like a lot.

Enjoy your cruise.

I'm sure it beats Georgia on New Year's Day.

Beats Virginia too! We're booked on Ryndam Christmas week. We disembark the day you'll be embarking. Like you, we've never sailed Ryndam but have sailed 6 other HA ships. Looking forward to Ryndam as we've read/heard compliments about this ship.

Itinerary is new for us too, and it's one of the things that attracted us to this cruise. Have a marvelous time and raise a glass of the bubbles at midnight NYE. We'll probably be asleep by then. LOL.

HAL really knows how to celebrate the holidays. We went on a Christmas Cruise in 2006 and it was done so very well. We got off the cruise on Dec 30. The people boarding for the New Year's Cruise were greeted with Champagne. We would have given anything to have taken a B2B ;) You're going to love the festivities. It's very special.
