lambs2 Posted September 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2013 I have a noon flight out of Miami, docking with Epic...too rush?? It is only eight miles from the Miami cruise port to the airport. Should be no problem getting there in plenty of time for your flight.
ColinIllinois Posted September 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2013 IF there are no ship delays or immigration delays and no traffic delays and you get off the ship early you should be okay. Keep in mind that Miami airport on Saturday mornings is a zoo. :D
cb at sea Posted September 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2013 Totally doable! You will probably be sitting in the airport for quite some time before your flight!
sdmike Posted September 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2013 Totally doable! You will probably be sitting in the airport for quite some time before your flight! Not necessarily true. Some have reported 2 hour security lines on Saturday mornings. OP - Just to be safe I would walk off with my bags as early as possible. There should be lots of cabs and a short 15-20 minute drive. You may, as stated, get to the airport by 9 and have a while to wait, but I'd rather get there early and go have some breakfast than rush around and worry about making it. Just my view though. Irishwhiskey Posted September 12, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 12, 2013 As long as immigration dosen't delay disembarkation you should be fine.My TA always told us to book our flights 6 hrs or more after the scheduled port arrival as a precaution. Its not as cut and dry as it used to be when traveling. xcell Posted September 12, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted September 12, 2013 what is the earliest you can get off the epic? I just got off the freedom last month and we walked off to pick up our bags at the terminal around 7:30, went through customs and got to Orlando by 9am... wvfrogg Posted September 12, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2013 I've done that before -- a Miami flight leaving at 11:30. BUT, I wouldn't try it again. I walked off the Epic, got a cab, and faced almost a 3 hour security clearance. I would rather now take my time getting off the ship and take a later flight. There were some people in line with me that had been late getting off another ship and they missed their flight. The Miami airport doesn't seem to be prepared for the number of flights on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It is a real zoo.
hattack Posted September 12, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 12, 2013 It's the increase in passengers due to the introduction of the new megaships that cause the airport congestion...Ft Lauderdale is the prime example..airport facility constraints and the downsizing of aircraft type also contribute to the challenge It's always tempting price and time wise to book the flight noon or before..there are too many factors outside your control that makes it dicey..let alone stressful which would be the last thing you would want after a great cruise
weltek Posted September 12, 2013 #10 Share Posted September 12, 2013 Out of our two cruises from Miami, we've always been off the ship early and to the airport quickly. A noon flight wasn't a problem. That being said, nothing is guaranteed. Lots of things could delay you. Have a back up plan just in case.

I don't think any of our Miami cruises included porting with megaships, so that probably helped our smooth sailing through the airport.
dark star Posted September 12, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 12, 2013 done this twice for noon flights without any problems, however not with a megaship like the epic
johnsak123 Posted September 12, 2013 #13 Share Posted September 12, 2013 I wouldn't chance it Last time I was at Miami Airport it was a disaster Why stress yourself out when you are so relaxed from your cruise taka a later flight
deepnite10 Posted September 12, 2013 #14 Share Posted September 12, 2013 the past couple times we flew out of Miami in the afternoon..took our time debarking..even hiding out so we could spend as much time on the ship as possible..yet each time we were found and encouraged to get out!!:o each time we were off by 10am at a very leisurely pace..and strolled into MIA well befor noon.. we, like may others are always fearful of missing our flights due to conditions out of control..and like many others were able to get to the airport in time to see many other flights leaving and wishing we were on one of them.. yet we shake our heads when we see others running around with smile less face with flights scheduled befor noon..always thinking *what if we re delayed* chances are you ll be fine..they ll be asking if anyone has a early flight and try to get you to debark early..carry your bags off and have your boarding pass s printed ahead of time..better yet..if they have a *bags* program, use it..they ll send your luggage ahead of you, to your flight and print your boarding pass s.. hattack Posted September 12, 2013 #16 Share Posted September 12, 2013 Ft Lauderdale Airport may serve the current cruiseship capital of the world, but Miami Airport Is the South American international hub which presents more opportunities for delay at security checkpoints
DevCruise Posted September 12, 2013 #17 Share Posted September 12, 2013 We did a noon departure off the Sky in January. Ended up sitting at the airport for awhile waiting for our flight, but we breezed right off and right to the airport. Your mileage may vary.... sdmike Posted September 13, 2013 #20 Share Posted September 13, 2013 6 - 8 weeks after your interview. And it can take more than a month before they arrange the interview, then several weeks (depending on the location) to have your interview. From application to card for me took over 4 months

jdvmd Posted September 19, 2013 #23 Share Posted September 19, 2013 Completely doable. We made an 8:40 a.m. flight from Fort Lauderdale and were getting off the Celebrity Constellation in Miami this past January. Would not recommend anyone doing this but noon will be fine.
