MelGurl Posted September 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2013 Can't decide what beach to do? My fiancé I will be here in October we only have 1 other ship with us in port. I have done Meagan’s Bay in the past but it was raining (no fun) my fiancé loves the sea life and will snorkel, I unfortunately have really bad ears and won’t spend too much time in the water snorkeling. So we also need good sand and beach for me! TIA
Rare mitsugirly Posted September 20, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2013 I have only been to Sapphire and I think it is just heavenly. (There's a review with pictures in my signature). The beach is beautiful and the snorkeling is right there at the beach, so you could actually watch your fiance snorkel right in front of you. :)
caribsun Posted September 20, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2013 Have been to both beaches and I give Coki a slight edge. I like the fact that at Coki they have clean restrooms and showers, very good beach service and plenty of fish.
PattyG12 Posted September 20, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2013 Also having been to both, I prefer Coki ... Also, if your fiance really wants something spectacular he could go to Coral World, next to Coki, and do a helmet dive ... walk across the bottom of the water and really, REALLY see the marine life. 2PinaColadas Posted September 20, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2013 We have been to Coki, Megan's, Secret Harbor, Sapphire, and Emerald. Sapphire is our favorite. Beautiful water, beautiful views, great snorkeling, no vendors, and safe. My avatar is of Sapphire. We love it there.
caribsun Posted September 21, 2013 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2013 I have been to Coki two times and was never harassed by a vendor. The only vendor was a local selling coconuts. When you get to Coki you will be greeted by a beach worker who will set you up with chairs wherever you would like to sit. You will also be assign a server for food and drinks. hbennett Posted September 22, 2013 #8 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Same here. We've been to Coki several times and have never been bothered by vendors. They do have wait staff that comes around for food and drink orders. Coral World is next door and has some neat displays and such.
simms03 Posted September 22, 2013 #9 Share Posted September 22, 2013 How much is a taxi to Coki? And are they the ones that wait until they are full before they will head off? I've read conflicting posts on different boards. Is it pretty easy to get one there and then back to the ship?

I know when we were in St Thomas, they waited until the van was completely packed...like sardines packed.

Plenty of taxis back to the ship.
O2B@Cagain Posted September 22, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Is it pretty easy to get one there and then back to the ship? Getting a taxi on St Thomas is one of the easiest things to do! They are everywhere and will compete for your business.

caribsun Posted September 24, 2013 #14 Share Posted September 24, 2013 Sapphire is beautiful but when I was there it was lacking beach service, eating choices and a clean restroom. Has it changed for the good ?
blue_water Posted September 24, 2013 #15 Share Posted September 24, 2013 Sapphire is beautiful but when I was there it was lacking beach service, eating choices and a clean restroom. Has it changed for the good ? Sapphire Beach is home to 3 condo resorts. The main restaurant is still closed but there are at least 3 food and drink options and there are runners on the beach taking orders. The Banana Cabana between bldgs B & C has an excellent Maui Maui sandwich. There is a restaurant behind the Sapphire marina, and a runner takes orders for pizza in Red Hook. So there are plenty of options, and the restrooms are great, much nicer than other beach restrooms. We've been to all of the STT beaches and although we love Coki Sapphire would be my recommendation for the OP. excellent snorkeling, and a beautiful soft sand beach with abundant shade and beautiful water and islandv views. Cruise life Posted September 26, 2013 #16 Share Posted September 26, 2013 I think we are going to have a hard time choosing as well. We want to see the pirate sculptures and views from Blackbeard's Castle first and then hit the beach when it warms up, snorkel and have lunch. Does anyone know which beach is closer to Blackbeard's?
