scottbee Posted September 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2013 As the Vancouver cruise season ends, it looks like Westerdam does not want to leave port, and has dug its heels in! Originally scheduled to leave at 5pm, but here it is nearly 11pm and it hasn't left yet. Word on the HAL boards is that they have cancelled Astoria (they'd never get there now), and are headed (unscheduled) to Victoria tomorrow. The primary reason is nasty weather out there (987 hPa)
trophy_23 Posted September 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2013 Thanks for the update. That photo is the Statendam... Westerdam is on the westside of Canada place at the moment.
scottbee Posted September 30, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted September 30, 2013 Thanks for the update. That photo is the Statendam... Westerdam is on the westside of Canada place at the moment. You're right. Hate it when I mess up the dams.
Vexorg Posted September 30, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2013 Yes, there's been some pretty nasty weather in the Pacific Northwest and especially off the coast the last couple of days. I'm pretty sure it's not the type of thing I'd want to be sailing in.
scottbee Posted September 30, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted September 30, 2013 Both the HA ships finally pulled out of Vancouver around noon today. I suspect they'll be missing a port day somewhere to make up for the 17hr delay.
Langley Cruisers Posted September 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2013 Yes, several ships and itineraries were affected by our Fall storm these past two days. :(
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 2, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 2, 2013 Very nice. Before we know it, we will the season will begin with the first ship of the season. I was on the first ship of the season in 2012. Keith
Vexorg Posted October 5, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 5, 2013 Yes. Planning to be on the first ship out of Seattle (which happens to be eight months away at this point, but that's just a minor detail, right?)
cs4225 Posted October 6, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 6, 2013 Just got back from the Sapphire Princess Sept 28 Coastal Cruise. We left Vancouver on time but the sail away party was held in the Atrium because of the rain. In Victoria it rained in the morning but cleared up after lunch. But in the afternoon the winds came and it was strong that we left port several hours later than scheduled. The Captain also told us that our scheduled stop in Astoria would be cancelled. DaveOKC Posted October 9, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 9, 2013 Statendam left about 30 minutes AFTER the Westerdam (I was on it), so I guess she is the last ship for the year. DaveOKC
