sardam Posted November 2, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2013 I was going to have my sons (7 years old) bring a few gifts for local children at our stops. They are excited to do this. Is it allowed or is it looked negatively upon those that do?
OCruisers Posted November 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 2, 2013 Grand Cayman would not be a very good place to do this. Children there are not needy. ;) LuLu ~~~~
Rare Lionesss Posted November 2, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 2, 2013 What are your other ports? Maybe one of those will have a need for what your family would like to share. Sea Ya
cb at sea Posted November 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 2, 2013 GC is one of the richest countries in the Caribbean.....You would likely benefit from the residents giving YOU stuff! They are fine....they are NOT needy at all! Wait until you see the prices they charge for everything there! After all, it is the BANKING capital of the Caribbean! centerpoint Posted November 2, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 2, 2013 I replied to your post on the Cozumel board. Interested to know your destinations...so far you are on two of the three I have planned on a Carnival Sunshine cruise...
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 2, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 2, 2013 If Cozumel is one of your stops that would be a place to do this. It is very thoughtful. Keith
caribsun Posted November 2, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 2, 2013 We give a monetary donation to a church base Caribbean mission. They know best how and where assistance is needed plus you have proof of the donation for the IRS.
drew sailbum Posted November 3, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 3, 2013 While I appreciate that Cayman is far better off than many Caribbean islands, there are those in need. Gratefully there is a spirit of generosity within Cayman and we do a pretty good job of helping those among us who are less fortunate. There are many worthy organizations that do good charitable work. One that has several programs that benefit youth is the National Council of Voluntary Organizations (NCVO) which operates a group foster home and daycare center among various other projects. vanclan Posted November 8, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 8, 2013 If another port is Cozumel, we were able to bring very needed (but to us very basic) supplies for the Red Cross when we were in Cozumel. I will see if I can find info about their needs and if this is still possible.
