Hobie Posted November 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 10, 2013 Do any of the car rental agencies have drop off at Port of Miami or shuttle to Port of Miami? Thanks, Hobie.
purplekisses Posted November 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2013 Last year we dropped off at MIA with Alamo and took their free shuttle to the cruise port. We are doing the same next month. We fly into FLL staying two day in Miami and dropping car off at MIA and shuttling to cruise port. It was fast and easy.
dons_shopper Posted November 10, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2013 same thing last year: We have been told that there is NO drop off possible at the port ( we did that many years ago). But drop off at the airport and free shuttle to port worked very well.

Corby114 Posted November 12, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Dollar, Thifty, National, and Alamo have free shuttle service from the Rental Car Center located directly across from Miami International Airport. After dropping off the rental vehicle take the elevator up to the top floor. Exit the building and walk to the northern end of the building where the shuttles are located. The trip to the Port of Miami takes approximately fifteen minutes. Avis, Budget, and Hertz have downtown Miami locations but I'm unsure if they provide any free transportation from their facilities to the Port Of Miami. mississauga Posted November 25, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 25, 2013 I believe Hertz still have the free shuttle to the port. Avis and Budget do not.
CP Tech Posted November 27, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 27, 2013 Yes Hertz still has a free shuttle to/from the port to their facility. Got it booked for next month.
lsmommy Posted January 20, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 20, 2014 Does the Hertz shuttle go other places besides the port? We are dropping off the car the afternoon before the cruise and staying at the Holiday Inn. Trying to decide if we should drop off the luggage at the hotel first and then walk, does not look like it is too far, or if they have a shuttle we could take that. Also does anyone know of a gas station near the Hertz Downtown location?
tunaman2011 Posted January 20, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 20, 2014 Greetings How do the return shuttles work? Do you wait at a specific spot at the port or do you have to call for one? Thanks Tom
dettlja Posted January 20, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 20, 2014 Greetings How do the return shuttles work? Do you wait at a specific spot at the port or do you have to call for one? Thanks Tom We've used the National shuttle 2x upon return from cruise. When we exited the terminal, on the outer curb you could see the shuttles lining up. We just waited there for a National bus to come and hopped on. They did check our reservation before they let us board.

It's only 80 miles to the port but reading the Miami parking threads makes me wary of leaving a car anywhere near there. Think it best just to rent a car and not have the worries. Think it best just to rent a car and not have the worries.Good Sailing.Tom Please let us know which rental car you chose, and how the transfers worked, timewise etc, to and from the port. We have been driving and paying about $56 to park for seven days, but someone said the ramp is now $10/day. Looking for alternatives. Thanks. We used Alamo - rented a car at FLL and returned to MIA. Did the reverse after the cruise. The shuttle takes 25-30 minutes for the drive. We waited 5-10 minutes in the shuttle at MIA before it left for the port. After the cruise we waited about 10 minutes for the shuttle to come around to take us to the airport. Got each rental for under $30 total with taxes (one day, full size car), so this was a very cost effective way for us to get from one city to the other.
