BacktoBack on Emerald Princess

We have done it on the Emerald in FLL many times. You will get instructions sent to you a day or so in advance, and given a new cruise card.

You will be asked to meet at an appointed time, escorted off the ship after all others have left, and you will proceed thru US authorities and do a U-turn back on to the ship.

You just leave all of your luggage in your cabin. It is very easy, and you will have the ship to yourselves for a while. Also, you are not required to do the Muster Drill again.

What happens on turnaround day in Fort Lauderdale. Do I have to leave the ship. Am keeping same cabin so I assume my luggage stays put.

The answer is Yes and Yes.

You don't have to move anything & you will get your new key card for the 2nd voyage the night before you get to Ft. Lauderdale. Included with the new key card is a letter explaining what you have to do.

Typically, in Ft. Lauderdale, if you aren't taking a tour or getting off for awhile, you still have to get off to go through customs. You don't re-board until they get ready to start embarking passengers. You re-board before embarkation starts. Usually it happens this way.

I have heard it both ways, several times, regarding the Second Muster on a B2B:

Having done B2Bs on Princess you WILL have to attend muster per security. We were told by the exec. officer you must attend on each and every cruise!

I will have to wait and see what our own situation is (on the CB) on our first B2B...

we have done 3 B2B cruises in the last 2 years on 3 different princess ships, 2 at port everglades...our experience was the same on each cruise ...never had to go to follow up muster drill for the 2nd part of cruise and the process, as stated, was very efficient. we wanted to get off the ship in each place to resupply our wine and were given "in transit" cards each time to avoid the check in lines when we wanted to re-board....

for us the in- transit thing was a lot of fun and something we really enjoy...

have a great cruise!

We disembarked the Crown on 11/9 in FLL after 3 B2B's. We only went to the safety drill muster on the 1st cruise. The letters received at the end of each cruise w/instructions & new key cards clearly indicated that we did not have to attend musters on the subsequent B2B's but they did encourage us to do so.

Yes and Yes.

If you have never been to Fort Lauderdale I would suggest a Princess Excursion to the Everglades on turn around day . You leave the ship around 9AM (with your new card and transit pass) and return around 1PM.

You never have to do another muster on a B2B and it goes for all ships in any port.

Info above is absolutely true. We've also done several B2B cruises on Emerald out of FLL.

Not required to attend the 2nd muster (per the instructions sent) but could if we wished.

It's easy! Have a great time! :D

Additionally, If you want to tour around or go shopping you may disembark on your own. You can get back on the ship any time after the b2b'ers have re-embarked, around 10:30/11:00. Bring your passport, old cruise cards, new cruise cards and intransit cards with you. Princess will provide you with detailed instructions.

Just to clarify on turn around day you do not go through Customs, do not complete the Customs form. This is done at the end of the cruise. You do go through Immigration.

Thank you for all your replies.....am sure we will sort it out onboard.

You'll also have quite a few others from the UK doing it with you! B2B cruises in the Caribbean are popular with UK folks.

It's easy! You'll not have a problem. :)

Not always "quite a few others....". A couple of years ago, on a b2b on the Emerald in March, we were the only in transit passengers. There were the two of us, plus 3 entertainers (Barty, from Crooners, a comedian, and a lady doing hula hoop demos in the Artium).....talk about an easy turn around for us:D
