CDLTEL Posted December 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2013 Has anyone taken an air boat ride out of port Canaveral? Recommend one. Will be there on the 31. Thanks
somebodysdream Posted December 5, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 5, 2013 My DH & I did and enjoyed it immensely. Saw several alligators as pointed out by our guide/driver. Viewed and held different animals including a baby allligator during a presentation at the "camp". Ate alligator nuggets. Just a fun day.
BillB48 Posted December 5, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2013 I've done this one, http://www.airboatridesatmidway.com/ Not part of a ship's excursion, just drove up there. There is another a little closer to Cocoa on SR 520 http://www.twisterairboatrides.com/ Drive by it all the time but not have taken any rides with them. CDLTEL Posted December 5, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted December 5, 2013 Is there transportation from the pier to the place?
P&C4/16/67 Posted December 5, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 5, 2013 We did this years ago thru the ship. I forget the price but do remember that when we got there, saw walk in prices that were a lot less than we paid. However, the bus ride was about 45 minutes and would imagine the transportation cost would had made up the difference. It's and nice activity. After the boat ride, there's a show with alligators and a guy who teases them. You also walk around the grounds but the gators are behind chained link fences. Dcoy Posted December 5, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 5, 2013 You also walk around the grounds but the gators are behind chained link fences. Trust me, that's a good thing. :D Don
emdia43 Posted December 5, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 5, 2013 We did the St Johns river air boat ride, booked via RCCL, which included transportation from the ship, we ended up at the airport. We saw lots of alligators and herons and really enjoyed it although it gave me the heebyjeebies our boys thought it was by far the best part of the vacation. :)
BillB48 Posted December 5, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 5, 2013 Is there transportation from the pier to the place? I don't believe so other than a taxi, which could get $$. I would think you could rent a car less expensively.
WetToes Posted December 5, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 5, 2013 We did this. Booked it on the ship. The bus ride was a bit long, but glad we did it. Only saw a couple gators, but the airboat ride was worth it.
Hard2Choose Posted December 5, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 5, 2013 We did this in October of this year. Very fun! Tour guide on the bus ride there was very informative about the area & seemed to have a lot of NASA knowledge. The boat ride was awesome! I was a little nervous about it, but it was amazing! I just wished it was longer. We initially decided to do it because we had a late afternoon flight, so we thought we would do this instead of just hanging out at the airport. So glad we did! dacsmom Posted December 5, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 5, 2013 We did it through the ship because it dropped us off at the airport after. I want to do it again because there was a cold snap and it was 37 degrees. We still had a great time and it was so worth it.
emdia43 Posted December 8, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 8, 2013 Is there transportation from the pier to the place? If you purchase the excursion from the ship, they take you by coach and then drop you off at the airport at the conclusion.
bilyclub Posted December 8, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 8, 2013 The air boats at the Lone Cabbage are great along with the bar there. Been there several times.
AAAAmerican Posted December 9, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 9, 2013 At the Port we rent a vehicle always. Have gone to Lone Cabbage a few times. Costs are so -so much lower when you rent your own vehicle and may do so many other things after and/or before going to ride the Air-Boats on the St. John River .. go up the main road too to Ft. Christmas ..

Orlando Vic Posted December 9, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 9, 2013 If you purchase the excursion from the ship, they take you by coach and then drop you off at the airport at the conclusion. Just get a car and do it yourself. It's very easy and you'll save $$$.
