Thanks for the reply.

We are sailing on 1/4/15 I called Celebrity and they told me I coun't book them until 3 months from the cruise. That seems to be different from what I'm reading here. Some people seem to have boked them much ealier than that.

Is there a specific number to call?

For sure you can book them 6 months before the cruise. I cannot find the number to call unfortunately. Someone will have it.

I am not sure how far out they open the bookings. I booked in October for a January cruise and had no problem. I just called the main number from the website and told them I wanted to book alcoves. They transferred me to the proper department. I believe it was cruise enhancements or specialty dining. If you are a captain's club member I am sure you could use that number also and they will get you to the right department

We are a group of 10. If I reserve 2 alcoves are there any restrictions with the amount of people who "hang out" in the alcoves?

Are there only 4 lounge chairs? I would imagine some of us can lay on blackets if there's not enough chairs.

First off, while each alcove has seating for 4, it isn't 4 lounge chairs. What you get is 1 settee/daybed type seat that could accommodate 2 or possibly 3 people sitting on it, or 1 person lying down. There are also 2 chairs and I think 1 ottoman. So no lounge chairs per se, like you would find by the pool. You can certainly lie on a blanket but you'd be out on the grass, which isn't technically part of your alcove. The actual floor of the alcove is a hard surface if I recall correctly.

As for numbers, they are said to accommodate 4. Last year we were a group of 8 and had alcoves. Sometimes we were 4 and 4, sometimes 2 and 4, sometimes 5-8 of us were sandwiched into one for a while as we came and went throughout the day. No one said anything when 5+ were in one. I don't know if it's because actually had 2 rented so it wasn't a matter of lost revenue, or if they didn't care because we weren't being particularly loud and raucous, or what.

Does anyone know if I can book it once I am onboard? Would the price be the same? Also, can I cancel the reservation if I change my mind?

If there is a availability once you are onboard, I'm sure you can book then. However, the likelihood of that is slim. Not sure what the cancellation policy is.

  • 2 weeks later...
It is $99 on a port day, which includes San Juan and $150 for a sea day.

It costs that much to rent out one of those a day!? Wow. Do you have it for 24 hours, and only you can use it, or how does that work? Besides that, and the charge if you want to

eat at the Lawn Club, can anyone use the lawn area for free? Are there other chairs you can sit on out there, etc? Anyone can play games out there for free, or sit to hear music in the evening? It looks like you walk through the Lawn Club to get to the Sunset Bar, and I've heard that's a great place to go for sail away. Thanks for any info! : )

When you rent an alcove it is yours for the day, and no one else can use it. I think technically they say you have it til 9pm? Not sure if there's an actual end time or not, but essentially you have it all day.

Yes, the rest of the lawn area can be used for free by anyone. There are no chairs, but you can bring a towel and sunbathe, walk through it, listen to music when they have that, etc. You don't actually have to walk through the lawn to get to the Sunset Bar; the walking track goes around the outside of the lawn and will lead to the Sunset Bar.

Yes the rental is from 9-9. The cost is $99 per port day and can comfortably fit 4-but some people have more- The sea day's cost $150. If you rent for the week, you save 20%. Just rented on the Silhouette and loved it! $99 cheaper then most shore excursions- and if you have sailed many times to the islands- well worth it! So comfortable and peaceful. Best to rent prior to the sailing as the ship only has about 8 and they typically rent up quickly. I do not think you can get a refund.

Too each his own. I do not understand why anybody goes into the casino as most people lose money.

When you book, call celebrity specialty dining reservations- That is the department that books the alcove

I just booked for a couple of days on our upcoming cruise and asked what the cancellation policy was. I was told 24 hours. I was also told if I canceled online at least three days before, it would be refunded to my card. If I canceled after that, or on board, it would go to my onboard account and if any was leftover, it would be refunded to the card I put on my account at checkin.

Sounds reasonable. At least if after the first day we decide we don't like it, it seems we may be able to cancel any future bookings.
