Castaway Cay Question

You dock at Castaway Cay. Quick and easy. As of last year, Disney was the only cruise line that did not require tendering to "their" island (may have changed this year?).

RCCL has docked at Labadee since 2009.

DCL has docked at Castaway Cay since 1998.

You can come and go between the ship and the island all day as you wish. You can walk to the beach areas (10-15 minute walk) or take a tram. There are sidewalks that are stroller and wheelchair friendly. There are wagons and beach wheelchairs available to borrow (to your left as you walk from the ship).

DCL lied to us!:eek: They said on the ship that Disney was the only cruise line that actually docked at their private island.:rolleyes:

Labadee used to be a tender port. When Oasis and Allure were built, there was no way they could tender, so RCCL built a dock. Came in handy as it was completed just as a massive storm hit Haiti, so RCCL was able to ship care items in to be offloaded.

If you are mobile and can handle the walk, I highly recommend walking from the ship to the beach, Cookie's, etc. It's a beautiful, scenic path with numerous opportunities for taking pictures--I find it one of the most relaxing parts of the trip.

We also decided to walk to Serenity Bay last year (not realizing it was WAYYYY FAR AWAY ), and that was a bit too long of a walk--although it was kind of cool walking down the old airplane runway to get to that section. We were pretty shocked tho when we rounded the bend and saw how loooooonnng that runway road looked from where we were standing lol :D

Labadee is not an island it is a private resort.

Disney is only cruise line, so far, to dock at their private island.
