Slower to the fun

Maybe the question should have been "are you allowed to drop your bags off," to which the answer would be no.

For those who are "rule followers" like me, we choose to either lug the carry on around until rooms are ready or pay for FTTF (thankfully I'm platinum now, but did purchase FTTF prior).

For those like you who don't follow rules & do whatever you want - go through the doors that say Diamond, Platinum or FTTF only, I can see why you wouldn't spend the $$ for the privilege - your special already.

I agree! The last two cruises I was on there was a staff member at all the staircases and elevators and they escorted people to the elevator leading to the lido. There was no choice in the matter. I guess we could have shoved a CCL staff person our of our way! Ha!!

I've never been on carnival. Our first cruise is in May. I've cruised DCL, NCCL, and RCCL in the past. As I'm sure you can see from my signature :)

I use CC a lot prior to a cruise; mostly visiting the Roll Call or the specific Cruise line boards. Given that fact I have never really participated in a carnival thread. My only interaction with Carnival forums,of any kind, are on John Heald's FB page. Love him. And the people I've interacted with there.

I have been visiting the carnival forums now for a couple of

Months getting prepared for our first CCL vaca!

My time spent on these boards has made me a little apprehensive . Why?? Well there seems to be more angry cruisers on these boards than I'm used to seeing on the other boards. :(. Well they seem angry based on snide, mean, rude, or whatever term you want to give to the type of comments I see on some of these threads. Not saying this one in particular is that bad.... Just got me to thinking about it and so I posted here!

Having said that.... I've read a few threads lately about FTTF and have noticed the anger it causes in some people.

I bought the FTTF (for our cruise in May) for one reason... I felt it was a small amount to pay for the convenience of being able to drop my carry ons in the room when we board. That's it. I'm not looking to trample or shove anyone out of their place in line. I do not think I'm elite or special (although my mom does )

I am not a rude or presumptuous person. And I try to be very open minded and fair. I'm sad that I now feel as though I better hide my card from view of others, or risk the wrath of the experienced carnival cruiser with an axe to grind over the FTTF program.

I truly hope this doesn't come across as rude or mean spirited.... Because that's not my intention. I'm just saddened to be running into flame type comments so often on these boards.

Oh and all you cruisers who offer constructive replies and encouragement to others... You are the reason I keep reading!! Fortunately, at the end of the day, I see a lot of nice people here!

So..... On May 2nd if you are boarding the Sunshine in Port Canaveral and see a somewhat tall blonde (I know great description) being accosted because of her FTTF status.... I'm looking to YOU, kind Carnival cruisers, to come to my rescue!! Lol.

You all have a great day!

There's a great "block" feature here on CC :) Makes all the nasty posters go "poof". I do agree that there are quite few posters with chips on their shoulders, lamenting about the days gone by. It gets old after a while. Change, for better or for worse, is unavoidable.

Then, there are the "multiple personalities" who have had more screen names on CC than I have cruises under my belt. Yes, we all know who you are ;)

There are many genuinely great folks here too - always helpful and polite. And where would be without all the wonderful reviews! Some members have a cult-like following, because their thoughts and photos are so great.

It's like any dysfunctional family, really :) :)

Not interested in spending the $ for FTTF. Also not a big fan of long lines. We usually get to port about 11 and wait with the herd. Anyone have experience showing up in the afternoon after the crowds? We will be on the Breeze out of Miami this summer.

Bolding is mine. This is usually how we try to time it. It doesn't always work out and we get caught up in the busiest boarding times. We don't enjoy the crush to get on the ship so we usually take our time. If we fly in the day before we relax at our hotel as long as possible and then maybe go out for a walk or light lunch. If we drive we have a car with us to tour or run some last minute errands. I am in no hurry to get on the ship simply because the crowds bother me. As I think about it, our worst boarding experiences have been on other lines.

I got FTTF and I am very excited to see how it works. Never cruised before and want to follow the rules and enjoy every last second. I paid money so I don't wait. Is this the right way I will see.

Have a great time on your first cruise, hopefully you'll be hooked on cruising. One advantage to getting on the ship early is that there are no crowds, you can take pictures of the ship without a crowd of strangers in them.

One cruise we boarded later in the afternoon due to a same-day-flight. There were no lines, but we felt like we'd walked into a great party after all the fun had started.

Carnival is still the Fun Ship, no matter what changes have come along over the years. And truth be told, if we weren't Platinum we'd buy FTTF to take advantage of getting on early. ;)

People should stop directing their wrath over FTTF at the people who buy it; instead, they should complain directly to Carnival. Implying that people who opt to buy it are somehow snobs or stupid is childish and rude. There are dozens of reasons why someone might want to consider FTTF, and they don't have to justify it to anyone.

I bought it for our last cruise on the SPLENDOR just this past November. Not because I wanted to get on before anyone else – I couldn't care less – but because we were traveling with my brother, who is a bad diabetic with severe nerve damage to his legs and feet. He can't stand for a long period of time, and I didn't want to risk getting to the pier and having him stand there for an hour or so. I'm not saying this to justify getting it, but just as an example.

If people want to buy FTTF, fine. If they don't, perfect. If Plat and Diamond people have a problem with it, tell it to the judge...but stop trying to make the people who get it feel bad or stupid.

Those are the same people who SCREAM about following the rules when people talk about smuggling that they "can't believe people just won't follow the rules" yet when people do and it's something they don't like they find another reason...lol...I buy FTTF, love it and will every time I can because I can. Sorry you all that feel slighted so maybe it's time for a CL change.

At the end of the day its how you wish to spend your vacation budget, 50$ on fttf or 50$ on drinks or photo,s etc. I do not deride folk who spend their money on photos so do not deride me because I wish to spend my money on fttp.

and burn it away so dont complain about those who wish to burn their vacation budget on fppt.

Show me the post where someone is complaining about who you or someone else burn their vacation $. Nobody could care less! Everybody is entitled to their opinion. That is so great about CC.

In May we purchased FTTF for the first time (of course it really hasn't been offered that long I don't think) it was our 9th cruise......my husband said it was the best $49.95 we EVER spent on a cruise....and I agree...I know everyone doesn't see things as a good deal...I can't even begin to understand why people like to go into a casino and spend money....my parents LOVE it.......in November I was platinum and didn't have to pay the $49.95 ... my husband never made to our platinum cruise...he went to work on September 9th....perfectly healthy we thought and then he had a widow maker heart attack that afternoon....and tonight makes 4 months since he died.....everytime I think of cruising I think about him ... he loved it SO much as do I ..... but I will always remember hearing him tell others about the FTTF. To each his own I guess......but to us we felt like we had an entire extra day at sea....that is how quick we got on......but just like I feel about a casino.....if you feel it is a waste of money or not worth the money I sure wouldn't spend it on it then

My DH and I pondered getting FTTF on our last cruise. He has been battling cancer this year, didn't know how he would feel, and it was wonderful being able to get into our cabin, leave our stuff off, and then go get lunch with out a crowd Being able to find a table on that very screwy day of sailaway.

But when we had to use a tender, and really got special escort and treatment, it totally paid off. And being able to have a concierge of sorts that was just for us was great. Did this service make the bartenders serve us faster? No, nor the waiters, but for what it is advertised for, it works.

Even though we dont have a tender on our next cruise, we ordered FTTF again, time is too short to sit on shore.:)

This is one of the many problems with society. If rules/laws are not enforced and people feel as tho they can get away with something.....they will do it.

Its no longer good enough to have a rule, it has to be enforced and have repercussions for the rules to be followed.

This is not a problem with society. It is a given. As with all rules, laws, etc they always need to have 2 Parts...the rule or law itself...and the penalty for not following it. Without both of those the rule or law means little. The problem with society is that somehow this concept is not always followed. Of course without enforcement it hardly matters either. :):):):)

They don't enforce rules. I always drop my bags off first, without making a $50 donation.

That's not the point. The point is, the poster said it wasn't a rule when clearly it is and it's posted. Secondly, considering we are adults and not 5 year old kids, they shouldn't have to ENFORCE a rule, we should be adult enough to follow the rules without mommy and daddy making us. That's what wearing big boy and big girl pants is all about.

So as I said to the other poster, it is a rule and you're violating it. I can't keep you from violating the rules but if I were you, I wouldn't run around bragging about how you can't seem to follow simple rules in life either.........doesn't paint a pretty picture.

For those of you who buy or use it, are there signs at check in?

Also how do you know where to get the FTTF tender?

Yes, there is a specific line at check in for FTTF. During the cruise I used it on, we were told as FTTF to meet at the GS desk for the priority tendering. We were led down to the front of the long line that had already assembled to disembark on the tender and went on first (this was on the Glory so check with GS when you board to verify their procedures). Loved it!

Sorry but this is inaccurate. It's true that the problems are not with society in general but with the individual people in society. To the law abiding people, the fear of enforcement of the rules is not a requirement to actually follow the rules. I follow the speed limit whether or not there is a cop driving behind me. I open doors for ladies whether or not my mother is watching. And I don't go to my cabin before 1:30 unless I have FTTF because I know right from wrong and how follow the rules correctly as any adult should. Someone who can't do the right thing without the fear of getting caught simply needs to grow up and become an adult because they are still acting like they're 5 years old.
