Do Platinum perks carryover to family members?

This will be our first cruise traveling with extend family while Platinum. I just wondered how that worked in tender ports and at embark/ disembark.

My mom is elderly and will be in her own cabin and there will also be two other cabins of extended family.

I wondered if any of them would be able to board, etc with us or do we need to just plan on boarding with them in the usual fashion? What about the priority tender? If not all of them then what about just my Mom?

If they get faster to the fun will they then pretty much be with us for these processes?

Thanks for the info

Platinum Perks do not carry over to family members.

Don't count on all of them being able to board with you. Sometimes it happens, but I wouldn't count on it. Sounds like there are at least 5 other people with you so I would say it's not likely.

More likely they can tender with you, but don't be upset if it's a no. For sure, they'd let just your mom go...they did that for me and my mom.

You could get FTTF for the other cabins, but they still would not board with you since FTTF goes after VIPs. But FTTF would solve the tendering issue.

Yes they will let them board with you. It is not policy but you will be fine.

I am pretty sure each platinum member can take up to 10 passengers with them for priority tendering. It is a policy. Look it up to verify the amount.

They can also join you for priority disembarkation.

Others here may say no it is not right.... That is their opinion. I am not saying if it is wrong or right. Just giving you facts based on personal experience and observations.

Platinum perks do not carry over to family.

You check in at your assigned desk and they check in at their assigned desk. You can all meet up before boarding the ship. You can take up to 5 people on the tender with you.

I think it depends on if you're on the same SS account or in the same cabin. I travel with my parents who are still gold, but they were given a sticker on their cards so they could board with me, get same early access to the cabin, and tender priority. They did not get the platinum pin or gifts.

If you contact special needs, they may be able to help your mother.

If you are Platinum your cabin mate (spouse /friend whatever) will be able to board with you , share your perks

I don't think they will let 5 extra people board early and sit in the lounge

I never knew about the 5 people rule, but I just do tenders with my group , most are not Platinum so we just board tenders regular, don't even try to use the so called "perk". I have a friend who cruises with us sometimes who is ...yes...Diamond <grin> and he too hangs back with the group getting off ship

On the Freedom he had a solo cabin but had an invite to the Diamond party with the officers for "two" so he took me and that was sweet

No, they will not be able to join you at disbark, either. Alert crew look at cards for entry into the lounge and stop tagalongs.

Family and friends have walked off the ship with us on the Triumph (x3), Glory, Imagination and Ecstasy. It might depend on the ship, don't know. My observation has been as long as the person up front has the letter they wave you on.

There is no letter. Your sail and sign reflects your priority status whether by color or FTTF sticker.

Both times off the Imagination, crew kept non Priority out of the lounge and told the ones who tried to merge as we exited that they needed to wait for their zone.

If you get FTTF for your Mom's cabin then she will get the priority tender just as you do. She will also have her cabin ready when you board (this may be beneficial if she needs to rest some) and have priority luggage delivery just as you will. She would get FTTF boarding which goes after Platinum/Diamond but before general boarding. In some ports they have the same waiting area but in some that are different so you would just need to go with her to the waiting area for FTTF and board with her.

For all our cruises in 2013 we got printed debarkation instructions along with Group 1 luggage tags we didn't use. The instructions were for Platinum guests to meet in one of the dining rooms (on the Triumph it was 8am) and be escorted off the ship with their luggage.

I've never had to purchase FTTF, we've cruised 22 times and this is our experience. The most recent cruise debarkation experience was 16 days ago, and we gathered in the dining room. A crew member checked the letter I handed my daughter and the rest in my group followed her in.

Again, this was just my snapshot on our cruises (one was the Imagination) from three different ports in 2013.

Not true. You get a letter on the last day explaining your debarkation instructions if you are FTTF or Platinum or Diamond. If you wish to carry your own luggage off you will meet in a lounge which is specified on the letter and you will be one of the first off. If you place your luggage outside your cabin you will meet in a lounge which is specified on the letter and when self assist is off you go off.

So lots of variety in the answers. I have pretty much convinced them to go ahead and get faster to the fun and I think I will just go ahead and purchase it for my mom's cabin. Sounds like the safest bet. That way she can avoid all those lines.

Tried the handicap assistance for her last cruise due to mobility issues and it took forever for her to get on the ship with her one companion. I think this way she will have a nice place to wait, be onboard quickly, and have her luggage early. Sounds good to me.

Not so sure they will be "fine">> they can take some others on the tender = as was posted up to 5

but boarding?? not in Miami at any rate

they have gotten a lot stricter about the VIP lounge from what I see, maybe especially since they added the FTTF

You , as platinum cruiser , can always join them with their boarding passes if a boarding picture is that important
