Showers on Island Princess

Can anyone tell me if the showers on Island Princess have a removable,

hand-held shower head? I have a 4 year old who doesn't like to take

showers- they are up too high and spray in her face. She will take

one if she can hold the sprayer herself. Any help is appreciated.

I have never sailed on a Princess ship that have removable shower heads, they have all been wall mounted. Sorry!

The Island's sister ship, the Coral Princess, had permanently mounted ones in the mini-suites. I would assume it's the same on the Island.

P.S. - When my kids were young and we didn't have the handle & hose in the showers on ships, I'd bring a plastic cup so we could wash their hair easier. Might help you a bit.

Could you buy one of those cheapy kind like they sell in the miscellaneous aisle of the grocery store, unscrew the shower head and screw the cheapy one on? Does anyone know if this is possible?

No the Island Princess does not have hand held showers, and from the looks of the one in my cabin, you couildn't take it apart either, to attach your own. If you can find one, those old rubber shower hoses that slipped over the faucet might reach from the sink to the shower stall. The shower head is pretty big, though it is adjustable and the shower stall is pretty small. It's a very compact bathroom.

Always one for an engineering solution to problems....

 

These are big Grohe showerheads. . .maybe 5" across. What would happen if a Concerned Parent took a supply of dry cleaning bags and a couple of rubber bands, opening one end fully, opening the other just enough to get it over the showerhead, then securing it with the rubber band. My thought is that this could then be used to direct the water flow as desired.

 

I'd love to prototype this, but I don't have the right kind of showerheads. Still, it's something to consider.

This could be fun, but let me say that my first Princess cruise is in 70 days.

 

My friend, just off the Hawaii Christmas cruise, said that the toiletries were minimal and that there was no shower cap.

 

I DESPISE fixed shower heads, being vertically challenged. I just can't figure out how to get shampoo out of my hair.

 

Here is the question:

 

Do the showers on the pool deck have hand held showers?

 

Do the Spa showers have them? Can anyone use the Lotus showers?

 

This might be a way to get a good shower, I think.

This is why I like tubs... I can stick my head under the faucet, and not rely on a spray of water from somewhere above. Long, thick hair needs more than a spray of water to get wet!

Just bath in the hot-tub.

 

People here are very literal. As there is no sign prohibiting

bathing in the hot tub, obviously, it is allowed.

I concur....it doesn't look like it is meant to disassemble. I don't really think passengers should do that anyway ... it just wrecks it for the next passengers for that cabin. And people wonder why things are broken or wrecked in their cabin and blame the cruise line. :confused:

You could also try asking your steward right when you aboard the ship. We were surprised to find that Princess doesn't have handhelds and requested our steward to look into getting one. Not sure how commonly this is provided, but after asking, one was installed for us (in an obstructed ocean view room, on a 14 day cruise).

Or get a Water Bandit from Amazon and run a line over to the shower for your shower head. Only need to run it about 8 feet of just use the sink to wash the hair.

The showers in the Sauna and steam area near the gym have hand held shower sprayers and there's enough room in the shower for you and your daughter. You don't have to join the spa to use the sauna facilities. They are free.
