Anything to do around IAH?

We get off our cruise on Saturday Feb. 8th and we have transfer to the IAH airport. But our flight doesn't leave until 7:00 in the evening!

 

we decided against the Princess excursions around Houston because do the cost. What is there around the airport to do? Is there a something fun close by we can take a taxi too?

Not really; IAH is huge. I mean very, very big. And the area nearest is not a great place to be. The closest mall is Greenspoint and I won't go there. Google things to do near IAH and see what you come up with. There is some information to read. I'm on the south side of town so I'm not extremely familiar with the area.

 

If you don't want to just sit in the airport that long then the transfer/excursion through the cruise line might be worth it after all.

The Woodlands is about a 25-30 minute drive from IAH. It is a beautiful area with a nice mall. Other than that, I can't think of much else near by. The immediate area around IAH is not fantastic, unfortunately.

Old Town Spring is a quaint little town about 18 miles north of IAH with numerous shops, restaurants, etc. Cheapest thing may be to go to IAH and rent a car for the day.

I agree that renting a car may be the best solution. If you do, there is lots that you can drive to see. Downtown there are several museums and the zoo.

Have a house about 12 minutes from IAH

Not a lot to do except shop or eat

Renting a car for the day is about your only option to get anywhere.

 

You will have to take your luggage with you no matter what you do
