Salt Wind Posted February 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 5, 2014 Wow, that sure is a scary story! But she should be thankful that all she lost was money, and not her life. Could have been worse! ;) Keep traveling guys!

Why would anyone with any common sense leave $1,000 out in their cabin? It sounds like this woman either has some kind of mental illness or she's trying to extort money from Carnival through a meritless lawsuit. Thanks for sharing this story. Sounds like Carnival did the right thing by letting the authorities take care of her.

I think there is much more to this story than we are being told by this lady.

Sounds like Carnival did the right thing by letting the authorities take care of her. Not defending this lady, in fact I don't believe her. I have plenty of common sense, but I seem to be human. One evening I was combing my hair in the bathroom and left $400.00 cash in error on the bathroom sink. Hours later when I was returning, I passed the steward in the hall, who gave me a funny look, and seemed like he was expecting me to say something. Whatever. I found that the room had been cleaned, and was shocked when I found $400.00 on the bathroom sink. Added to the stewards tip when we left. I always have to laugh how some people have just *so* much common sense after they see their neighbor make a dumb mistake. :p

jks336 Posted February 6, 2014 #20 Share Posted February 6, 2014 as others had said on the first post today regarding this. First she said she couldn't leave the ship because her s&s wouldn't let her.. BUT, she then states how the mexican yelled and threatened her.. well which was it, you got off the ship or not.. lmao

cruiseclues Posted February 6, 2014 #23 Share Posted February 6, 2014 The cruise ship was the Carnival Elation. General remarks without details why they are said are the things one might consider suspect...have you seen the video KATC puts up? Thats were the Elation is mentioned and is also seen in the video from several angles. I haven't found additional information yet as the link to another thread says invalid thread specified. So far I haven't seen details of the investigation regarding the missing travel documents...one would believe she had them when she went through the embarkation process (a birth certificate and her drivers license). Not sure what might be done with them if someone took them. Was the $1000 and the travel documents just left out in the open? None of that was mentioned in the video...which may have been made by KATC...wonder why they didn't ask more questions?
sjcruiser Posted February 6, 2014 #24 Share Posted February 6, 2014 Very fishy indeed!!! Why would the FBI meet, and not Customs and immigration her unless she was wanted for another offense. Also with the money being taking, I never leave money out in the cabin unless its a few dollars for tips, or change that we had when we came back from port. The wallet and ID stays in the safe, and if we take some out for some reason, it goes right into the pocket, usually for the casino or for an excursion. mzloolue Posted February 6, 2014 #25 Share Posted February 6, 2014 There is not enough information given to understand the situation. I see people trying to find a hole in the story, but in that article more details are omitted than stated, so I don't think it is possible to know from that bit of info what happened.
