LindsayMpls Posted February 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2014 Hi all, I'm sailing on Allure of the Seas next month. I'm not a big gambler (though I actually do enjoy watching!) but DH enjoys playing blackjack. What are the table minimums in the casino? We've been to Vegas many times--$10-20 is fine by us, just trying to get an idea of how much cash we may want to bring. Thanks!
KeyOfSea Posted February 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2014 My experience is the minimums are $10 in the evenings. Sometimes you can find a cheaper table during the day on sea days.
Esmerelda Posted February 8, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2014 Normally, it's a minimum $10 per hand. During the afternoon hours on certain days, they had $5 on the blackjack tables. :p
lazeyey Posted February 8, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 8, 2014 When I was on the allure last year the minimum for blackjack seemed to always be $
LA_CA_GAL Posted February 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 8, 2014 Most of the time, and on my Oasis cruise all the time, minimum was $10.
BekkaW Posted February 8, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 8, 2014 We have found $6 tables to be the minimum on RCI - they do allow the 'extra' $1 to be played as a lucky ladies bet ( trying to get 20 off the first 2 cards)

This is my experience as well. HOWEVER, it is also my experience that there is usually only ONE, or at most TWO, tables with the minimum. Remaining tables will be a $25 minimum or higher. Sometimes to get a seat at a $10 table you have to be willing to stake out a position nearby and wait a while.
seaofwonder Posted February 8, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 8, 2014 $6 during the day, $10 at night. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
LindsayMpls Posted February 8, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted February 8, 2014 Thanks all! I guess the general answer would be, usually a $10 minimum but I could get lucky and find some lower minimums. Go for that blackjack!!! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cb at sea Posted February 8, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 8, 2014 If the tables get very busy, they will raise the minimum...but in general, they start at $10....the next would be $25.
Tucker in Texas Posted February 8, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 8, 2014 What gets me is that they will have one, maybe two, $10 minimum tables and the rest will be $25 or more. The $10 tables have people two deep waiting for an seat. The $25 tables will have dealers picking their fingernails because no one is playing. On top of that, a lot of the people at the $10 table are betting $25 or more. However, they want the option to drop back to $10 if things aren't going their way. As for the $6, that's just hope you will bet the $1 on the "sucker" bet. I thought you had to have 21 to collect on it. Tucker in Texas

Anytime you have people standing around with their hands in their pockets that's money the cruise line isn't getting. No excuse for not opening up another table at $10 in the situation you described. When I come across that situation in the casino I just leave and go do something else that's almost always less expensive. I'm not going to say, well gee, I was only planning on betting $10 per hand but hey, $25 sounds good tonight!:rolleyes:
NanciRDH Posted February 8, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 8, 2014 DH found some video blackjack tables on oasis and allure that had $5 minimums. We laughed because you could choose the appearance of your dealer, male or female and maybe their dress. He prefers a live dealer, but played there once to twice for a laugh. This was when the ships first launched, so I'm not sure if they still exist.
