Casino Table Minimums for Blackjack?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm sailing on Allure of the Seas next month. I'm not a big gambler (though I actually do enjoy watching!) but DH enjoys playing blackjack. What are the table minimums in the casino? We've been to Vegas many times--$10-20 is fine by us, just trying to get an idea of how much cash we may want to bring. Thanks!

My experience is the minimums are $10 in the evenings. Sometimes you can find a cheaper table during the day on sea days.

This is my experience as well. HOWEVER, it is also my experience that there is usually only ONE, or at most TWO, tables with the minimum. Remaining tables will be a $25 minimum or higher. Sometimes to get a seat at a $10 table you have to be willing to stake out a position nearby and wait a while.

What gets me is that they will have one, maybe two, $10 minimum tables and the rest will be $25 or more. The $10 tables have people two deep waiting for an seat. The $25 tables will have dealers picking their fingernails because no one is playing. On top of that, a lot of the people at the $10 table are betting $25 or more. However, they want the option to drop back to $10 if things aren't going their way.

As for the $6, that's just hope you will bet the $1 on the "sucker" bet. I thought you had to have 21 to collect on it.

That's just poor planning. Anytime you have people standing around with their hands in their pockets that's money the cruise line isn't getting. No excuse for not opening up another table at $10 in the situation you described. When I come across that situation in the casino I just leave and go do something else that's almost always less expensive. I'm not going to say, well gee, I was only planning on betting $10 per hand but hey, $25 sounds good tonight!:rolleyes:

DH found some video blackjack tables on oasis and allure that had $5 minimums. We laughed because you could choose the appearance of your dealer, male or female and maybe their dress. He prefers a live dealer, but played there once to twice for a laugh. This was when the ships first launched, so I'm not sure if they still exist.

LOL yes, I actually remember seeing those on Oasis. I'll look for it on Allure for a good chuckle.
