Partially Obstructed on Solstice

I am cruising to Alaska and definately want a balcony. Has anyone stayed in the partially obstructed balcony? How does is effect your view and what is the obstruction? I am looking at deck 7. Thank you.

I'm not aware of partially obstructed cabins on deck 7. Most or all are on deck 6 with the life boats one deck below. On deck 6 you can look out with only minor obstruction, but looking down the view is lifeboats. Just returned from Aus/NZ on Solstice and had a cabin on deck 6. Frankly the "obstruction" was not a major issue. We still had a good view.

That is very helpful! So you could look out just fine, but just not straight down?

If you are talking about a 2C cabin, a partly obstructed cabin, yes, the only obstruction is looking straight down. We just finished a cruise on the Equinox and had cabin 6299 and we were very happy with it. The obstruction was about five feet of the roof of Blu and we liked that cabin particularly because the ones in the back don't have the lights from the lifeboats on the deck below obscuring your view of the night sky. And I like to believe that the long hike down the hall burned off some calories....

 

This particular cabin and the few back ones like it have larger balconies than some of the non obstructed cabins above!

All three of those cabins would have a larger balcony. You would be happy in any of them. Dress in layers for Alaska!! Have a great time!

 

I think those 2C cabins are a great value.

Well, I'm happy to hear this too as we've booked #6302 for our upcoming cruises. I agree with you Helen, hope the long walk helps with balancing out the food and drinks!

I just sailed on deck 6 in a 2C partial obstruction. We were between 2 davits. They stuck up. We could see straight down to the water between the davits. I would gladly select the cabin again.

She was assigned an obstructed view balcony (2C) as a GTY cabin assignment and there are pictures posted. Cabins on the Solstice will be the same.
