Leaving but we'll be back

We decided to give another line a try. As you see in my signature we already are back and booked.

We love our Carnival but like to spice things up a bit. We are very much looking forward to trying Princess.

There are differences already that I like and don't like and we have not gone yet.

This would not be a issue for most but I'm a pre pay junky.

Dislike's

Cannot pre pay shore excursion ( you can purchases OBC to cover the cost.)

Cannot make specialty restaurant reservations before sailing.

Cannot print boarding pass without putting down a CC number (i.e. no cash option online)

The nice people on the Princess boards have shown me ways around this but not as easy as Carnival.

You cannot pre pay tips online at time of booking but you can call and do it later. (this is new)

Like's

Liquor prices for in cabin use is cheaper. they use 375 mil bottles but they are between $17 and $22

2@ $22 is $44 for 750 mil. I think 750 mil skyy on Carnival was $70 and it's one of the cheapest.

I like the fact that you get back any unused OBC the last night of the cruise, Its not use it or lose it.

After booking I like there web site better for checking things out.

LOL I like the fact that you don't have to pre pay shore excursion if you don't want to.

Anyhow just a few random thought's on our next adventure.

Not sure if you like or dislike this feature with Princess. I like Princesses' no smoking policy on balconies. I haven't found any dislikes with Princess - except for their "transfer" program, I'll never do that again.

I have sailed Carnival, Princess and RCCL. If you go looking for differences, you will find them. I went with the attitude that each ship was different (didn't worry about what line they were) and I enjoyed what each ship had to offer.

What I have found is that they are more alike than different.

Have a great cruise!!!

Thats true

Cruise Cash is unless you go to the casino and cash it out there.

gift cards are they keep your money till future use. (no cash back)

Enjoy!!!! There's nothing wrong with giving another line a try, or spicing things up!!! I tried my first cruise with RC out of NJ, when they were less than CCL going out of NYC for almost the same cruise. Did two cruises with Royal, and then back to Carnival, just because they have the itineraries I want, at the time I have to take vacation. Enjoy your cruise, and be sure to come back with a review of your cruise including a comparison. Happy Sailing!!!!

I am also looking forward to a "comparison" review on your return. Enjoy.

@Bases5,

We felt a bit like we were "cheating" on Carnival when we first booked a Princess cruise. We liked the Princess experience but have not abandoned Carnival. As you can see from my signature, we cruised both lines last year and are booked to do B2B on Princess for 7 days and then immediately onto Carnival for 8 days this summer.

Each line has its pluses and minuses but both offer a great vacation value. And being a stockholder in CCL, we get OBC on both lines. :D Princess also gives me additional OBC as a veteran of the US military.

Princess offers a much more varied selection of cruise locations as well.

Anyway, Carnival was our first love and, barring some huge changes, will remain one of our favorites.

I have NEVER....nor will I EVER....understand why one has to stay with the same cruise line.

POTATOES....

mashed

ff's

baked

au gratin/scalloped

twice baked

home fries

boiled

broiled

etc...etc...etc...

VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE AND ALWAYS WILL BE:):):):)

It's FUN to "Sleep Around"!

While Princess is our favorite cruise line, we still cruise on Carnival and others from time to time.

(We are currently booked on Carnival Fantasy out of Charleston on May 31st ... one of the few 7 nighters they do from there.)

Expect to have a wonderful time on your Princess cruise! :)
