Crazymasons Posted February 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Thank you to whomever gave me this idea (I wish I could remember). Today I made up little tip baggies, particularly for room service. Hey we're on our honeymoon, we'll probably get room service a lot :)

mousey Posted February 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2014 (edited) Tip treats for room service are awesome but that should be in addition to and not in lieu of at least $1 cash tip.:D I always bring "bite sized" candies to hand room service with my $1 and $2 tips. Elaine5715 Posted February 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Do you realize that US candy is not particularly appealing to crew members?

That's what it looks like she did. $1s fit nicely in those zip snack bags. Cute idea.
riffatsea Posted February 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2014 A thank you with the money is just fine but I don't really get handing out candy to adults as a tip! I think it is demeaning. They are not children at Halloween!
Vitamin_Sea Posted February 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2014 I doubt they want the candy.

klfrodo Posted February 24, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Trick or Treat? BTW With that pic, any internet crazy now has your names, cabin numbers, can guess what ship, and can probably go thru past posts and find sailing date
candacemac24 Posted February 24, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 24, 2014 I think this is a good idea and all, but I think the crew members might not exactly care for the candy, I mean, they aren't lil kids...like one previous person commented, it's kind of demeaning. Heck, I'm 13 and I personally find it a little bit demeaning. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
MichelleChell Posted February 24, 2014 #12 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Heaven forbid someone wanna do something nice. I think its a nice gesture and who cares if they like the candy or not. They have $ and can give the candy or toss it.
candacemac24 Posted February 24, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 24, 2014 I apologize if I seemed rude..lil stressed out lately. :( anyhow, it is a nice gesture but it could be taken in the wrong way by some. Maybe replace it with more money..I mean, who doesn't love money :D Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk

jimboridesmtb Posted February 24, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Candy, especially chocolate is very much appreciated. For us it's a treat that we can have anytime but for many countries it's a luxury. If all they get is a tip it goes to necessary items or gets sent home. I wouldn't take away tip money but as an extra it's very much appreciated. Once in Mexco we gave a grounds keeper a chocolate bar and it was like he'd won a lottery. luv2cruzfrmco Posted February 24, 2014 #16 Share Posted February 24, 2014 That is a very nice way to give your tips. I have no imagination but may do this on our upcoming Magic cruse. When I first started cruising in 2005, I could not get enough of cruise critic. Now, it just wears me out how negative people can be. Newbies ask a question or make an observation and get slammed by more experienced cruisers. We all had to start somewhere and I think to belittle a newbies expression of excitement is just plane rude. I'm obviously getting older because I have no tolerance for rudeness anymore.
USNUZULOOSE Posted February 24, 2014 #17 Share Posted February 24, 2014 I like the idea. There may be a few stewards who enjoy some candy. But they can do what they like with it.
