Velvetwater Posted March 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2014 When researching the port of Tampa for our Legend summer cruise I came across a port cam and the aft/forward cams of the ship. Now I love to watch it sail out of Tampa while I am doing my work on Sunday afternoon/evening. Then looking at the aft/forward cams every so often. Hubby calls me a boat perv and I am worried I am a bit obsessed or some sort of trainspotter type. I only do it for the Legend lol but I often recognise other ship logos. FawnRiver Posted March 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2014 Just yesterday DH and I watched ships leaving Port Everglades (watching for the Ruby to try and figure out how obstructed our ocean view stateroom is). DH ended up pulling out his Mac laptop and pumping the feed through our Apple TV unit so we could watch it on our big screen TV. We found our room, heard the band and can't wait to be the ones waving for cameras. It was just us and the other 535 people according to the count on the web page watching her come out of the port. EdmPair Posted March 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2014 Well, part of me thinks "boat perv" is a bit much and part of me laughs at it too. I am not sure I can be accused of voyeurism if they put up the cams!! "Your Honour, I am innocent!" Anyway, I have watched cams in ports and on ships many times. It warms me to see sunny places even as I freeze here. All the Princess ships have them and most of the other lines too. In looked at ports, most of the bigger busy ports have cams too. The hard part for me is to see the camera while it is light there.
FawnRiver Posted March 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 3, 2014 We don't watch the port cameras all the time (just here and there), but our PVR is loaded with shows about cruise ships (thank you Discovery channel). I call it "cruise porn" which sounds a lot worse than "boat perv". It certainly surprised my sister when I invited her over to watch on a show about the NCL Epic, which she had booked her first cruise on. She enjoyed the show and the cruise but could have done without hearing me refer to it as cruise porn. Anything to help pass the long, cold days between cruises . Surfguyxxx Posted March 3, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2014 It's a ritual for me to be watching the cams on weekends. I open Miami, Port Canavral and Port Everglades. Then I open CC and I'm set with my coffee watching the ships coming into port. Therefore, I guess I'm a perv too!:)

blackpool belle Posted March 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 3, 2014 We stood in front of the Carnival Breeze aftcam to wave to everybody at my cousins Silver Wedding Anniversary party which we were missing back home. We decided to he$$ with the expense and phoned them to have a chat whilst they could see us.

Velvetwater, there are lots of us out there. For ports, I'll be found viewing New York (2 webcams now!), Miami, Port Everglades, and Port Canaveral. Earlier today I relived last year's Baltic cruise by visiting the webcams in Dover, Rostock and Amsterdam. At least I'm not frequently on You Tube searching for videos.:p

Krazy Kruizers Posted March 4, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 4, 2014 There is quite a group of us on the HAL board that watch the PortEverglades web cam when HAL ships sail-away (as well as other ships). We love listening to the toots from the ships as they go past the condos. Westerdam is winning for the most toots.
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 4, 2014 #13 Share Posted March 4, 2014 And many times when the new Royal Princess leaves Port Everglades, she will play part of the "Love Boat" song with her whistles.
flamomo Posted March 4, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 4, 2014 I live in the Tampa area and am a big fan of the Port Everglades webcam. I would love to have a link for the port of Tampa webcam if someone could provide it. I had no idea one even existed, after living here for almost 25 years!! Jillbus Posted March 4, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 4, 2014 I'd like a link for Tampa as well. I am sitting here wanting to be a boat perv but can find a web cam!
BeagleOne Posted March 4, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 4, 2014 I'll have to check the port schedule to see when the Royal Princess will be in Port Everglades next!

Lauderdale, Miami, pt Canaveral, Aruba and Key West..it shows the sail aways from the past and gives the schedules dails for the ships...
