Two Bedroom suite

Can anyone tell me what the sleeping arrangements are in the smaller bedroom? Are there two beds (bed and pull down) or is it a couch and a bed (pull down)?

Not sure if it matters, but I'm referring to the Gem.

Thanks!

Wow, thanks. So my question is, is the couch ok for my 21 year old son? I would guess yes if three adults stayed in there then two had to sleep on it! Then my 20 year old daughter would sleep in the pull down. Does that sound like it works?

The balcony is just a standard balcony with 2 chairs and a small table. You can see pretty much all of it in this photo:

The master bathroom tub and shower take up the space where the rest of the balcony would normally be. BUT, that doesn't matter...go into the courtyard area and up one flight of stairs to the BEST deck on the entire ship - reserved exclusively for Suite Guests and most of the time it is vacant!

BTW, the sofa in the living room pulls out into a bed, so that would be another option for your daughter if she would rather sleep in her own space instead of in the same room as her bro.

The couch in the second bedroom does pull out but all of us in the suite I was just in on the Pearl agreed that the pull out couch in the living room was more comfortable even though it was narrower - more of a real mattress and much higher than expected.

We didn't try the pull out in the living room as we decided to keep that area clear so no one would be disturbed sleeping and no one else had to tip toe around. We were very comfortable with the pullout in the 2nd bedroom. My sister slept on it with no issues and she has back and hip problems. This was on the Jewel. One night the 3 of us laid on that pullout together just relaxing for a few minutes.

Great! Glad to hear it. I feel the same -- don't want to tip toe around...

Here is a picture of the 2nd bedroom (this is on the Pearl) with the drop down bunk and the couch made up for sleeping.

Excuse my DD, she is being silly for the camera.

Great, thanks so much! This is exactly what I was hoping to see. Love the pic of your DD!

Maybe this changed after we traveled in Dec '12... but...

family 2-bedroom suites are not Haven level and therefore do not have access to courtyard. can someone else confirm?

On some ships (the Pearl, Jewel and Jade) they have both Haven and non-Haven 2 bedroom family suites. I would imagine the Gem does too since it is a sister ship, but I've never looked at the Gem to know for sure.

The staterooms are the same size, but you pay more for the haven suite due to the perks.

Correct. Ships like the Pearl offer two bedrooms that are the exact same as those two bedrooms that are in The Haven but you do not have access to the Courtyard.

All of the Jewel class ships have haven and non haven 2 bedroom suites. the non haven ones are located on deck 11, there are 10 available there, and they do not have haven access, they also don't qualify for some of the haven perks such as the haven itself and the reserved seating in the theater, and the ones located within the haven on deck 14 have haven access, and there are 8 available up there along with 2 one bedroom, same layout just missing the second bedroom, and of course the 2 garden villas.

Is the pull down bed the same as the drop down bed? One is attached to the wall (Pearl) and the other to the ceiling (Breakaway). What is the weight limit for the upper bed?

If it is attached to the wall on Pearl than it will be on Gem. I believe all Jewel class are the same. I'm pretty sure it is attached to the wall on the Jewel. Have seen people over 200 pounds sleep up there with no issues whatsoever. No even fear that it would collapse. But I don't know what the official weight limit is.

I was asking if the drop down bed on the Breakaway that comes down from the ceiling is the same as the photo of the Pearl. Not sure why you thought I meant the Gem????? The Breakaway is not a Jewel Class ship.

The original poster was talking about the Gem, so I'm sure the information will be helpful.
