Disneycruisers Posted March 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2014 We have never cruised with Princess ( 12 Disney,10 Carnival & 2 RCCL) and are looking into doing the Emerald out of Houston spring break 2015 with our 20 yo and 18 yo daughters. We have some friends who like to cruise Princess but have told us that it is primarily an "older" crowd that cruises Princess. I would like to hear some others feedback. Will there be enough for our daughters to do? is there an 18-20 yo meet and greet?

Spring break will have an average younger age than at times schools are in session. The 18-20 yo can do everything except drink alcoholic beverages and gamble in the casino. So there will be plenty of activities and entertainment they can attend if they so wish. Some Cruise Directors do set up an 18-20 yo M&G. If offered, it will be listed in the Patter, the daily list of activities that will be in the cabin when you embark and then each evening.
snrlnd Posted March 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Usually tons of kids and teenagers during Spring break.
Colo Cruiser Posted March 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2014 I don't think its an older crowd, I would think it would be fine.

MKEcruiser Posted March 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Most cruises we have been on had a scheduled get together for this age group the first night of the cruise. Last Caribbean cruise had a 10:30 pm get together for 18-20s in Skywalkers Nightclub on the first evening and another the next evening at 10:45 pm. They can participate in most activities listed as adults only and Princess even lists in the Patter : adult (18 and older) for things like DJ Dance Parties or Princess Pop Star Contest. Drinking age is 21 and they card my now young adult children regularly all over the ship, including the dinning rooms. My "kids" used to like the fact that Princess had an older crowd. There was always room for them in water volleyball and all the other physical things they were interested in. Glass half full attitude! ;) I never worried about scheduled activities for them at that age. Seemed like they preferred just hanging out at the pool. My husband and I (when we sail) will be 57 and 53. Come to think of it, we ARE probably the older crowd.:p Sounds as if this will be just great! We're thrilled that Princess will be sailing out of Houston, as we can drive, and not have to spend a fortune in airfare. We're looking very forward to it. :)
OCruisers Posted March 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Almost anytime school in not in session on 7 Days cruises on Princess there will be lots of teens. Emerald is one of our favorite Princess ships. :) LuLu ~~~
Griff4AU Posted March 11, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 11, 2014 I'm late 40's and have taken my teenage daughters (who were both pre-teen when we started cruising together) on Disney, Carnival and Princess. Even as pre-teens, they always preferred Princess. The only other kids/teens they've stayed in touch with through the kids programs on the ships have been with the Princess cruises. Just because Princess doesn't overwhelm you with neon and flashing lights and ship-board merry-go-rounds doesn't mean that the average passenger age was "older." Your daughters will love Princess, just like mine still do...
Brenda8129 Posted March 11, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 11, 2014 It's so nice to see a family with "older" kids still vacationing together.:)
OCruisers Posted March 11, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 11, 2014 One reason we have cruised so many times on Princess is because our younger daughter liked cruising on Princess best ... as a child and all the way through college. Our older daughter liked Princess too. When they were happy, we were happy. :) LuLu ~~~
Disneycruisers Posted March 11, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Thank you for all of the replies! :) We're excited now. (Just wish we didn't have to wait a whole year, LOL.) :(
melody hounddog Posted March 11, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 11, 2014 My 17yr old and 18yr old love Princess. Especially the food! However, they do just tend to hang out with us and not join the teen activities. I guess for all of us it is just family time. We bring a board game or two and hang out on our balcony together or in one of the lounges.
berlingo Posted March 12, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 12, 2014 Another vote for Princess. Our daughters now 16 and 19 years also love Princess. They have a fantastic time and love dressing up every evening for dinner. They are confirmed "cruise kids" and always find lots of friends. If a meet and mingle is not arranged by Princess the youngsters can always contact the Cruise Director and offer to host on themselves. My eldest did this last year and had a great time meeting her peers. Sent from my KFTT using Tapatalk HD

Yes! My nephew traveled with us on the Ruby three years ago and went to the 18-20 yo meet and greet. He met a lovely young lady and they were married last December! He is very glad he attended the M & G! He returned from the get-together and told his parents he had just met his future wife!
