dcedar Posted March 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2014 ...booked my Royal Caribbean cruise and used my Carnival MasterCard because I wanted the points??? LOL. The guy that I booked through laughed when I told him I was using my Carnival MasterCard. And then I thought... what if I don't get my points for it:)

dln929 Posted March 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 12, 2014 That is kind of funny when you think about it but points are points! Get them where you can. When the sewer lines in our nearly 100 year old house failed, I used our RCI card to pay the bill and laughed all the way to the bank when I redeemed my points for some very good OBC when we were on the Navigator. :p
Stateroom_Sailor Posted March 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) Not at all! I have a La Quinta Visa card and I use it at Hampton Inns, Marriott, Holiday Inn, and casino hotels. Points are points! Just look at it this way, the credit card and Carnival get a piece of everything you purchase, even from the competition ;) Edited March 12, 2014 by Stateroom_Sailor

new2cruising2006 Posted March 12, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 12, 2014 I did the exact opposite. When checking in on the Carnival Legend, I used my RCCL visa for my onboard spending account. When I handed it to the representative checking us in she just smiled.

franl24fan Posted March 12, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 12, 2014 I just ran into this when I jumped ship from RCL over to Carnival for a short 4 day cruise (the price was half of the Enchantment for better cabin, due to the 200% solo surcharge even for last minute cruise). I have another rewards card I don't use as much, so I used it for the Carnival cruise, just felt guilty over using my RCL VISA :-). I won't get points towards my RCL OBC, but I do get points on that card for restaurant gift cards.
mgoblue19 Posted March 12, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 12, 2014 I run every purchase I can through our Southwest Visa...I pay off the card every month so basically free flights. Helps us fly back to visit family and stuff, makes vacations a lot cheaper when you aren't too concerned about airfare.
cjdixon4 Posted March 12, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 12, 2014 Trust me, Royal Caribbean doesn't CARE how you pay for your cruise. Long as they've got your business, they're satisfied! Build up those cruise points however you can!
hellsop Posted March 12, 2014 #13 Share Posted March 12, 2014 *grin* The points earned from putting a cruise through a hotel-point card are just about enough to buy the hotel room the night before.
Rare Tapi Posted March 12, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 12, 2014 I've used my Royal Caribbean credit card to pay for our last few cruises on Carnival, Holland America and yes, Royal. Those points are paying for our upcoming free cruise on the Enchantment. :) Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

cflips7 Posted March 13, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 13, 2014 I have used my royal card for the last 2 carnival cruises we have gone on and yes for our royal cruise we are leaving on in 30 days. Points, Points, Points, lots of onboard credit
John Reid Posted March 13, 2014 #17 Share Posted March 13, 2014 I believe that when you write your check to pay your Carnival MasterCard, it is made out to Barclay's Bank of Delaware. Carnival isn't even involved.

B&J_Pgh Posted March 13, 2014 #19 Share Posted March 13, 2014 right now they are offering a $100 OBC (10,000) for opening up their Bank of American credit card. we are trying to get our 20 something daughter to get one to help with her portion of the price on our Christmas cruise.
