Your reasons for loving Carnival

I am a first time cruiser who just came off of an amazing cruise with the newest Holland America ship.

There were people of all ages there though not a lot of kids or young families (ok with me either way).

Anyway it was a very special cruise for my 25th wedding anniversary and hubby's 50th birthday. We went with this cruise because we went with a group that had artists and speakers who meant a lot to us and therefore made it really special.

BUT, it was way more expensive than what we could have done with another line.

We had such an amazing time that we'd like to cruise again but would probably have to go with a more affordable cruise.

SO, other than being more affordable, what do you like about Carnival? Thanks. :)

I am 50 and just got off my 52nd cruise yesterday. I won't make a Carnival cruise be my main cruise (for many reasons) but Carnival is our getaway cruise. We needed a getaway and booked up the Fascination two weeks ago, we realize going on Carnival is for a nice relaxing good cruise but its far for the food. If your thinking on going Carnival I only would recommend the Dream or the Breeze (two newest ships) for a few reasons. Carnival seems to give better selection/variety/quality when it comes to the food only on these two ships, but then again its been two years since I been on these ships so I am assuming they still good, but may not be now.

We just got off the Fascination yesterday, been on her two other times in the past 16 months and we knew this cruise wasn't for the "wonderful food" but for a nice getaway. I have to say we were shocked to see the more decline in the food on this ship and I am unsure if it is the same on the newer ships.

Carnivals pools are more old fashioned, salt water, smaller than other cruise lines. Their casino's I have to say are my favorite and are more loose than other cruise lines. The service/staff on Carnival in the past few years has greatly improved than what it was before 2010. Carnival never was known for its entertainment, you won't find top notch shows as you would see on NCL and RC, basically we just find Carnival shows ok to just good nothing outstanding ever. The ships are very clean but what we found on the Fascination food is recycled in many ways I will be writing a review on my Fascination cruise today and will get more into that. The staff always is friendly and with a smile especially the bar staff. Carnival treats its Player Club members very generous. They kept the baked alaska and lobster. Balconies are very decent size, bedding is just as good as RC.

It all boils down you get what you pay for. If your not going for the food and don't mind eating just "ok" Carnival is a good choice as I never had a bad Carnival cruise. Carnival's steakhouse is very good to excellent, in fact when we were on the Dream two years ago, we dined in the MDR the first evening and found ourselves dining the remaining 6 nights in the Steakhouse.

Carnival was the line that I took my first cruise on and I have never sailed with another line. Part of it is pricing, just being honest. I am able to cruise more often because the price is a little lower than others.

Since I have taken numerous cruises with Carnival, I know what to expect and I have just gotten confortable with them. I use the same PVP, who knows what I like and don't like, and have even had crewmembers on different ships remember our names and even what kind of beer we like!

I have never had a REALLY bad experience with Carnival so I have no reason not to keep sailing with them. My wife and I make our own fun on a cruise so I think a lot of the things that people complain about with regards to Carnival don't really matter that much to us.

The ships provide a fun atmosphere, and as long as you don't worry about things like table cloths and crowds at the pool, you can still really enjoy yourself.

haha you have the same motivations and goals during a cruise as my wife and I! The guy with the bloody mary cart out by the pool in the moring has saved my life on many occasions! ;)

We started with Carnival for the good reviews of the kids program. I stayed for the kids program. My kids love it, and that makes for a better family cruise when they are happy. But just as important, we have not been dissatisfied with Carnival. We don't like the eggs on the breakfast buffet, but we get an omelet or made to order eggs from the grill or dining room. The staff give excellent service. Most of the passengers are not pretentious. There may be something better out there, but I'm way happy enough with Carnival not to look elsewhere.

Convenience and price mostly (I live in Florida, so most ports are within driving distance). But after 14 cruises, I have realized that I just like to relax, and have fun. Carnival is not stuffy, and I can be myself. It is not the most luxurious line by any means, but I have always had a good time, and the ships are always clean and pretty well organized. I don't know if I love them, but I really like them, and will continue with them until I stop having fun.

Cheap and ports of embarkation within driving distance.

BTW, we chose Holland America for our last cruise to Alaska. Absolutely wonderful!

Yep, it's great!

The bar keeps will make sure you have plenty to drink and they even bring the drinks to you.

Then at the end of the day, security will escort or carry you (not sure if it's your choice), to your own private box...err suite, yeah that's it...suite. :p

I have not been on any other cruise lines. I started with Carnival for the price. I have been on 6 cruises. I have booked interior rooms on 4. A deluxe ocean view on the Dream and a Grand Suite on the Sunshine. I have liked all my rooms and have always had great service. The Sunshine is my favorite.

I keep going back to Carnival because I always have so much fun. I know what to expect and Carnival always delivers for me. You can dress up or down, do lots of stuff or do nothing. Love it.

I am looking at the next cruise in October. Same itinerary, balcony room but the difference between Princess and Carnival is roughly $600 more on Princess. To me it's a no brainer. Princess to avoid the above. Carnival rep hasn't changed. But the food has and not for the better. Carnival (6) Princess (soon to be 3)

Cruising has become very expensive for me since I live in Canada, and airfare must be paid to the tune of 400-500.00+. Also I now cruise solo mostly so most often have to pay a supplement for that.

For those reasons, I choose Carnival because it still offers me the lowest price even with single supplement. I have been on five previous excellent cruises with Carnival, and for me no complaints about anything.

I love the décor! Find Carnival ships colorful and interesting.

I find more than enough great food to eat on board, including the MDR, and I have won nice little sums in the casinos three separate times, once the winnings were enough to pay for my cruise.

I have been on two other cruiselines, great ships and great cruises, but since it comes down to price for me, and Carnival offers me a product that I am satisfied with, Carnival remains my choice.

Some day when I am hopefully better off, I do look forward to trying a different line, only because I would like to experience something new

For us it comes down to what we get for what we pay. The food is good. The service is friendly. The activities are plentiful. The entertainment is (for the most part) entertaining. We aren't those who feel Carnival should be like the others. First of all, if they were, they wouldn't be Carnival. Secondly, we're not those who feel they should offer the same amenities as other lines. What the others give you, you've paid for in a higher cruise rate. We feel we definitely get our money's worth.

We've done the carribean, Hawaii and last October Mediterranean and transatlantic cruise with Carnival. The price is right. I love the diversity of people and age groups. I love our personal vacation planner that has been there except for our first cruise. I've also been other lines. Down to it, I love to relax on cruises.

I do like the consistency of excellent service, clean ships, great food, large cabins, good entertainment, good schedules, good ports and great value for the price. I also like the size of the ships and layout of the ships. Especially the Conquest class ships. Not too big but they offer the ammenities I want. I have only sailed on Carnival, 7 cruises in all over the last 10 years. I feel right at home on Carnival and they treat me great. Keep it up Carnival.

They sail to places that we want to go to.

We like the service and the food in the MDR and other places on the ship.

We like the friendly crews.

We like the relaxed atmosphere.

We like the piano bars and comedy clubs.

We liked their Jazz Brunch. (I don't know if they have this anymore though).

We love, love, love...Tea Time!

We love that we know exactly what we are going to be getting for our money and are very happy with what we've gotten.

This is no longer an issue, because the DS is now 18, but we always loved the way that kids are treated on Carnival.

But, the main reason is we get the best bang for our buck. You just can't beat Carnival prices.

We've sailed many cruise lines and like them all. We have never had a bad cruise on any cruise line. We're not Carnival cheerleaders per se, we just do happen to like them a lot because their low fares mean we get to cruise more often.

Hope this helps!:D

Well, sadly Carnival is not my first choice, but when I do sail Carnival it is usually because of price and available itinerary.

The thing I love most about Carnival is their crew. While I like other aspects of other lines better, no other line has a crew as genuinely friendly as Carnival's crews. I always miss that when I am not on a Carnival ship.

I won a three night cruise on the Fantasy years ago and was amazed how much fun we had and how the staff bent over backwards to make sure you have a good time.

Four cruises later I am still amazed. Sure I have run into a couple of staff that needed an attitude adjustment but for the most part we are happy.

On my last cruise (the Dream) we had a problem and Carnival more than compensated us for it

That coupled with the three ports within a couple of hours drive and the price, Carnival gets my business. If they keep giving gamblers generous offers they will see me even more.

... it was way more expensive than what we could have done with another line.

We had such an amazing time that we'd like to cruise again but would probably have to go with a more affordable cruise.

SO, other than being more affordable, what do you like about Carnival? ...

Well, most posters have ignored that qualification, so I'll pile on.

For me, it's not just that the price is right, it's that if I list the things that I value most on a cruise, none are any different on a more expensive cruise line. Really, the things I care about are spending time with my family, sitting on a deck chair in the sun, and exploring an exotic location (preferably on a do-it-yourself basis). Honestly, I would be just as happy on a barge as long as the sun was shining, my cabin was spacious and comfortable and they fed me three square meals a day.

I doubt very much that if you sat me down at dinner with two plates, one from Carnival and one from a "better" cruise line, that I could tell which was which. Similarly, I don't go to shows enough (because I'm not that interested) to be able to appreciate what is "really good" entertainment from what is "mediocre".

Sailing with Carnival doesn't mean I go more often. There are too many other things to do with money than to go on a cruise every time my budget can afford it. But I don't see any point in spending 30-50% more (after factoring in the total vacation cost, including airfare, hotel, etc) to sail with a more expensive cruise line.
