Purchasing wine in Barcelona port

Hubby and I will be cruising out of Barcelona late this summer. Is it possible to purchase wine to take on the ship from the port? If so, how much can you take on Celebrity? Is there a security check point to go thru once you make purchases?

There is a wineshop after check in. The quality of the wines is lower than the prices suggest so if you can access a local supermarket you will get better quality for less money. We were on NCL Epic so were able to bring on bottles at $15 corkage each. You will get info on Celebrity's policy over on the board for Celebrity. Ken

Celebrity allows 2 bottles of wine per cabin. Anything extra will be taken, and kept, until the last night of the cruise. You definitely go through security and X-ray screenings before going on the ship.

We came home last year TA and bought a case, not for on board consumption. If you want to buy it to bring home, you pretty much can buy however much you want. Yes, we had to pay duty on it, but it was only something like $10 for the case.

The large department store at Placa Catalunya, El Corte Ingles, has a wine store. Quality wines with prices to match.

If you just want lower-end wine, there is a market on La Rambla (I want to say Carrefour), near the La Meridian hotel, that has some ordinary wine PLUS you can buy your other cruise goodies needs there. I can't remember, but inside La Boqeria you may find some wine merchants among the vendors.
