Skier52 Posted January 2, 2016 #501 Share Posted January 2, 2016 (edited) Hi.. Could you please tell me what the size of the interior and balcony are for cabin 12140? thanks A standard cabin 192 sq ft (living area 168 sq ft; bathroom 24 sq ft) balcony 42 sq ft. IMHO you have a fabulous position on the ship, the front corner of the middle hump with unspoilt views in all directions, and as it is on the hump it won't have much shade from the deck 14 overhang, which may be good or bad depending on your opinion of direct sunlight on you and yours. elsieperalta Posted January 5, 2016 #503 Share Posted January 5, 2016 I want to thank you again @skier52. I was able to change my cabins but it wasn't easy. My travel agent didn't even know about the steel balconies and the View of the top safety boats. I was able to get 8228 & 8230 as you suggested. I'm happy now thanks to you. Skier52 Posted January 15, 2016 #505 Share Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) we are booked in 13180 on the MSC Divina for next week. Any info on that cabin for me? Thanks!! the good news is it is a balcony cabin, that's it for the good news Now the bad new. It is in the rear recessed area and is tucked away next to the hump wall and directly underneath the massive deck 14 overhang. It must one the darkest places on the ship, and it will only have a 90 degree field of view backwards on top of that it is directly underneath one of the busiest areas of the buffet with all the footfall and dragging chairs noise. Her is an image which you can just about see where it is, I've circled it in red Here's an image of the overhang and the hump wall (indicated by the red dot next to the port side equivalent of your balcony) Pete Edited January 15, 2016 by Skier52

Thomasomatic Posted January 17, 2016 #510 Share Posted January 17, 2016 WOW! Skier52, your help on these boards is so appreciated! Have you any thoughts/info on MSC Divina and cabin 12227 ?!? I am booked for the Dec. 6, 2016 10 day, but am trying to decide whether to switch to another cruise. Our main concerns are the other guests smoking bothering us and, to a lesser degree, cuisine. Thanks! T!

I am booked for the Dec. 6, 2016 10 day, but am trying to decide whether to switch to another cruise. Our main concerns are the other guests smoking bothering us and, to a lesser degree, cuisine. Thanks! T! Given that it is a Fantastica balcony cabin I would feel a little short changed if it was the same price as standard sized cabin because 12227 is one of the small balcony cabins (148 sq ft, balcony 34 sq ft) compared with a standard balcony cabin (192 sq ft balcony 42 sq ft). other than that it has a nice position on the ship with good views and little in the way of possible noise problems. If the price was right , in comparison to standard balcony cabins then I would se no problem with it. I can't say anything about smoking problems other than it is banned on balconies, Cuisine is totally a matter of personal taste (sorry about the pun,, It was intended) so I can't help there Pete Edited January 18, 2016 by Skier52
Skier52 Posted January 18, 2016 #512 Share Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) Thanks Pete! Cancelling a Celebrity cruise to try this instead! I wish you a wonderful cruise, I'd feel very bad if for any reason, which relates to the info I have given to you, you have cause to regret the change of cruise. Are you able to avail yourself of the status match program by virtue of any other loyalty scheme? Worth a try if you are. Rare Essiesmom Posted January 19, 2016 #514 Share Posted January 19, 2016 How do you plan to bathe your baby? the cabins you have named have a shower. In post 236 on this thread there is a list of balcony cabins that have a tub/shower combo, which might be more convenient for bathing an infant. steviewonder88 Posted January 19, 2016 #515 Share Posted January 19, 2016 thanks Essiesmom. Ya we have an inflatable tub that we would take, but was wondering if any of these cabins are bigger than the other or any other details to take into account as it appears these are the only balcony cabins still available on the sailing we are interested in. NoName Posted January 19, 2016 #516 Share Posted January 19, 2016 If you are are trying to decide on particular cabins, I have a listing of every cabin onboard with the square footage of the cabin overall (plus broken down into bathroom and living space) and the balcony. Let me know if you need that info on certain ones. Overall, I think B2 is a safe bet though some forward have steel balcony siding versus plexiglass. Bret Bret, can you let me know the size of 8250 and 8254 along with if they have tub/shower? Thanks!

Here's a copy and paste of post#236 on page 12 of this thread Based on the info I have, the following cabins (suites/YC not included) have bathtub/shower combos: 8112 8113 8114 8115 8116 8118 8119 8120 8121 8122 8123 8124 8125 8126 8127 8128 8129 8130 8131 8132 8216 8218 8220 8221 8222 8223 8224 8225 8227 8229 8234 8235 8236 8237 8238 8239 8240 8241 8243 8245 9128 9130 9131 9132 9133 9134 9215 9219 9221 9222 9223 9224 9225 9226 I find this funny because even some of MSC's own staff were not aware of this. Anyway, please use it only as a guide as I don't want to be yelled at if you don't get a tub. Bret it doesn't look like either cabin has a tub Pete Edited January 19, 2016 by Skier52
shelpt Posted January 20, 2016 #519 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Never sailed MSC and have cabins 10150 and 10152. I saw your post on the size. Are the balconies glass or steel? Is the view blocked at all? Does the partition between the balconies open? Thanks in advance!

Is the view blocked at all? Does the partition between the balconies open? Thanks in advance! No problems with either of those two cabins , balconies are plexiglass. You will have unobstructed views, though in a downward direction you will see some of a lifeboat, but that is true of ~60 - 70% of all balcony cabins. A part of the partition will open ~ 1/3 of it, the outermost 1/3. Pete

Preferrably a non steel balcony and rooms above and below. I know its a lot to ask for. Help... Thanks Tracy There are to many options for me to list. so here are some guidelines to help you in choosing When you say cabins that "adjoin" I presume you mean cabins that have a connecting door, if you mean they just have to be next door to each other any pair will do the job. Use the deck plans available on MSC's web site link to the MSC deck plans https://www.msccruises.co.uk/en-gb/Cruise-Ships/MSC-Divina.aspx 1) Choose a pair of cabins that have the connecting cabins symbol 2) Avoid the small balcony cabins on decks 12 and 13 on the central hump, numbers 12154 to 12204 on deck 12 starboard and 12179 to 12227 on the port similarly on deck 13 avoid 13130 to 13178 starboard and 13129 to 13177 port side 3) avoid the cabins in the following list as they are "STEEL" balconies or half steel/half plexiglass 9011 9012 9015 9016 9018 9019 9020 9021 9022 9023 9024 9025 9026 9027 9029 9030 9033 9034 9037 9038 9041 9042 9045 9046 9049 9050 9053 9054 9054 9057 9061 9062 9065 9066 9067 9069 9070 9072 9073 9075 9076 9077 9078 9079 9080 9081 9082 9084 9259 9260 9263 9264 10009 10010 10011 10012 10013 10014 10015 10016 10020 10021 10024 10025 10028 10029 10032 10033 10036 10037 10263 10267 11011 11012 11015 11016 11020 11021 11022 11025 11026 11029 11258 11293 12003 12006 12007 12010 12011 12014 12015 12016 4) if you value sunshine on your balcony then be aware that cabins in the recessed areas of deck 13 ,and to a lesser extent the same cabin positions on deck 12, will be affected by the shadow from the overhang of deck 14. Cabins on the humps don't have the same degree of problem. 5) if you want cabins above don't choose deck 13 Hope this helps in your search for "Adjoining" cabins Pete
