cruisewiththekids Posted April 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2014 I have never seen this before that the 3rd passenger's rate is higher than the first and second. The rep even checked with the revenue dept. to be sure it wasn't a mistake. Has anyone ever seen this before? And what would be the reasoning behind it? This is for a junior suite. leahlovescruising Posted April 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2014 I have seen this lately for a couple rooms as well. In one instance, the 3rd was $400 more! I'm certainly not paying $400 more for my 10 month old.
nolesrule Posted April 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Maybe the ship is nearing capacity and they are trying to discourage booking more than 2 to a JS in order to fill other cabin categories that might not be selling quite as well? Or perhaps a discount is being applied to the 1 and 2 pax prices that makes it lower priced? Just speculation on my part.

This actually happens quite often. It usually happens when they have put a special rate (military, resident, senior) on the first and second guest but they don't on the 3/4. I've also seen it happen where they have a lot if unsold cabins left in inventory and have dropped the prices but left the 3/4 rates as they were to get all the cabins filled but not to max capacity. If you do have a 3/4 guest then book a second room as it would be cheaper. As long as he first room has the bedding available for the 3/4 guests then they can sleep there once on board. ( thinking of little kids here ). Also note that muster station location can vary even if cabins are across the hall so book one adult in each room. Psycopuppy Posted April 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2014 I saw this when I was booking for my daughter and her friends. I could have booked 2 PR rooms for 3 people that was $120 cheaper than a room for 3. After I was looking at the math I tried to call back in later in the week and all of the PR's were sold out. Still holding out I can get more PR's as we get closer to departure date and give the kids a little more breathing room.
