Iamthesea Posted April 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2014 I was not sure which Port of Calls board to post this on, so I am posting here and on the New England forum. ;) My husband and I are trying to decide which itinerary would be best to take for a Canada/New England cruise. We have narrowed the choices to two. Below are the schedules. We have cruised with both Celebrity and HAL lines, and on both classes of ships, so the ship does not play a factor in our decision. Although, I will give the Eurodam a couple of extra points for their standard verandah staterooms over the Summit standard balcony staterooms. :) Which would you take and why? Celebrity Summit 14 Night CANADA / NEW ENGLAND Day 1 Cape Liberty, New Jersey 4:00 PM Day 2 At Sea Day 3 Boston, Massachusetts Docked 8:00 AM 6:00 PM Day 4 Portland, Maine Docked 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Day 5 Bar Harbor, Maine Tendered 7:00 AM 5:00 PM Day 6 At Sea Day 7 At Sea Day 8 Quebec City, Quebec Docked 10:00 AM Day 9 Quebec City, Quebec Docked 5:00 PM Day 10 At Sea Day 11 Charlottetown, P.E.I. maryann ns Posted April 22, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) You do not have all the port times clearly indicated by it seems to me that the HAL cruise goes to more places but spends less time. Do you tender in Quebec City on HAL? That would not be good as the ships can dock right in the old town and you can get off and walk around. Do you stop in Saguenay or just cruise up and back the fjiord? Your shorter time in Halifax would not allow you to do some trips outside the city. For the fall colours you should aim for the second week of October. Edited April 22, 2014 by maryann ns
sept10dsm Posted April 22, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2014 It also depends on transportation to the port/ports. If you are near NY, to me that would be my choice (have done the Canada/NE 3 times). The other cruise will involve one way flights and usually more costly. I would investigate the ports and see which were more interesting to me. Then factor the costs etc. and decide.
Giantfan13 Posted April 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2014 #1. Unless you are from Florida and that is home, why bother going down there to end a NE cruise. Plus, any itinerary that includes Bar Harbor is good in my book. Cheers Len
