Drink Prices

I'm sailing on the Westerdam this Saturday. Does anyone know what the general range of drink prices are? Wine, liquor, etc? Is it comparable to any regular bar on land, or is it highly inflated like in a Las Vegas bar or casino?

Just trying to guage how much I'll be spending for a couple glasses of wine and/or a couple cocktails per day.

Most cocktails are $6.95. There are bar menus posted on the halfacts.com website: http://halfacts.com/general-info/.

The current scanned wine list is at the top of this page:

Usually there is a happy hour that is too early for me, but for an extra $1, you can do a two for one. I take them to my room. On the other hand, for a solo, happy hour might be a nice time to connect with other PAX. There's no happy hour the first day aboard, so look for it.

There is also a Cocktail of the Day, which is a bit cheaper.

from what i can tell, their prices for their stateroom delivered liquor is fairly reasonable being that the 15% gratuity is already included in their prices. Their stateroom delivered liquor prices are quite comparable to other cruise lines, and are only moderately more than retail prices ashore. If you are regularly planning to consume many drinks a day it may be a good choice to select one of their drink packages(i believe they are around 50.00USD per person per day, and you receive 15 drinks per day on beverages at or below 7.50 per drink if i'm not mistaken.

you can sign up for as many days as you like once onboard if you haven't ordered a package prior to sailing.

We were surprised to see happy hours the first day on the Noordam. We had never seen day 1 happy hours before.

On all the ships we have been on, there has never been a Happy Hour on the first day of the cruise.

We don't bother with them any more -- 4 PM is too early for a Happy Hour. And now with the ships leaving the ports earlier than previous years -- usually around 4 PM -- we prefer to be out on our verandah.

In looking through the drink menu on Halfacts, I only saw one red and one white that would qualify for the Signature Drink package.

Am I missing something?

Sailing solo in a couple of weeks and it seems kind of limiting.

Thank you.

In early March, the Noordam's Happy Hours were 4-5, 5-6, and 11-12. The early ones were usually the Ocean Bar and Crow's Nest. The later ones were in the Northern Lights Bar.

And, as I mentioned, we had Happy Hours on the day of sail away. None of us had never seen Happy Hour on day 1 prior to this sailing. (Trust me. We would have noticed. It's our job. :D )

We also watched closely when the bartenders made our drinks (for research only, not because we seek out the bartenders with the more generous pours.) It kind of looks like the target is jigger (1.5 oz or 44 ml) in a regular drink. Some bartenders were a little under. Some were right on. Some had a little over-splash.

This is a kind of convoluted way of getting your answer, but the information is spread across three posts and this one links to them.

Scroll to the bottom of post #351 and you will see the SBP wines by the glass links.

Short answer: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Prosecco. There are more choices if you want to count dessert wines.

Thank you. Have a $50 drink card so probably will skip the SBP.

Then you can have whatever you want - until your $50 runs out. :(

Pretty comparable to any decent land based cocktail lounge. Of course, that depends on what part of the country you live in.

Not inflated by any means.

comparable unless you will only drink top shelf stuff also --

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi, does HAL have a kids package? Or a non- alcoholic one?

I looked on the link provided (thanks) but couldn't see one.

On Princess they have a kids ultimate package which includes soft drinks, juices, mocktails, hot chocolate.

I'm not sure where I saw it (I'm thinking it was somewhere in the indulgences area) there was a listing for a non-alcoholic package or just a straight soda package that was $25 for $50 worth (I think). I'm almost wishing I had saved the file. I was liking the coffee card since I probably will be spending a majority of my at sea time in Explorations anyways.

Keep in mind, I'm also trying to wrap up 16 units of grad school before I fly south on Monday for my cruise on Tuesday. I could be delirious at this point. ;)

Edit - went back and looked and I had saved it. If you would like the file, email me at winddncer at gmail dot com and I will send it to you.
