Zach1213 Posted May 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2014 This must be the first time anyone in France has gone on strike, no? ;)
Rare FlyerTalker Posted May 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2014 This must be the first time anyone in France has gone on strike, no? ;) Actually, I think they struck once before, in 1944 - at issue were complaints that Americans, Brits and Germans were interfering with their summer vacation plans. 6rugrats Posted May 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2014 This strike is not specific to AF. It's all the members of French SNPL union. Of course, AF is the biggest employer of these pilots. The vital issue that's causing this strike, which is supposed to last from 03 May to 30 May, where they will refuse to fly between 5:45 - 7:45 a.m. and again from 12:45-3:45 p.m.? The pilots are protesting against a law stipulating that those who strike must declare their intention to do so 48 hours before the start of a work stoppage. Of course, this happens when AF is finally projected to have a positive operating income.
alcpa1 Posted May 2, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted May 2, 2014 H20tster, If you booked through Delta call them immediately. They have a flight waiver. I was a little proactive and Delta went out of their way to rebook 4 of us on Delta metal. This is not the first time we have faced work stoppages. Do any of you remember the airlines strikes during the summer of 1966, transportation strikes every 12 minutes in Italy and France....I do. I guess I should be glad I can still remember 1966!
