Hello,

Was hoping to get feedback from folks who ate at Summit’s Normandie anytime soon.

We ate there once, and was not impressed at all…..but that was also 3 years ago so stuff changes.

Any recent details on Normandie I’d love to read. Thanks

We did not enjoy the experience on the Summit in October, but it's just personal preference. Didn't hate it, just didn't love it. Food was all well prepared, but the menu felt heavy and outdated. The atmosphere was too dark, formal and "stuffy" for us, and we felt the wait staff hovered too much - the whole thing just seemed pretentious. Check the pictures and menu and decide if that's what you'd enjoy or not.

We felt the same way when we went there for our 30th Anniversary Dinner last June. The food was good but it was too heavy and there were too many courses. The staff was at your table every 5 minutes. We also tried Quisine later I the week when we won a dinner for 2 from a raffle sponsored by the Future

Cruise Sales Desk. We loved Quisine. The food was amazing and it was a fun experience. Can't wait to go again.

I have enjoyed the Normandie. Each Celebrity ship has a similar restaurant. They all use the same menu. It is okay...not outstanding. Nothing that I want to repeat. Qsine is also a one time place. On my last few cruises, I haven't eaten at any of the specialty restaurants. The MDR menus are great. They change nightly. The $45pp extra charge for the Normandie is not worth it.

While the specialty restaurants on the Solstice class ships are much better we especially love the Lawn Grill, I do enjoy Qsine and the Normandie. I suggest that you book onboard or if you see a discount offered before your sailing. The main diningroom food is the quality that you get a a huge banquet- fair to good. Normadie better as the food is prepared (in most instances) as a regular good restaurant. Qsine is fun- Tappas style of food from different cultures.

Enjoy your cruise.

The Normandie was superb back in 2001 when it and the Olympic on Millie were the only ones out there. They are the ones ALL the Murano's are fashioned after. Unfortunately they are not as good as they once were and our last visit to this type restaurant, Ocean Liners, on Connie was very disappointing. Food was good, not great, service good not great....the "pizazz" was gone.... we now prefer Tuscan Grill and the Lawn Club Grill.....is it that WE have changed or they have?....not sure....but I suspect it's a bit of both....:)

Thanks for responses everyone.

Gracie, you’ve not changes. My feeling is that quality of food and service has gone down, because consumers are willing to accept it. Many businesses have figured out that it’s all about price to many consumers, and so they cut cut cut so that the prices are cheaper.

It’s too bad. How hard is it to have a nice restaurant, charge people EXTRA, and prepare food well, with very good service.

I’m basically trying to figure out: IS Normandie Food better than MDR?

We were on the Summit last November, and absolutely loved the Normandie. Great service, food and overall experience. Can't wait to go back again this November.

I haven't used The Normandie, but I have used the identical (menu-wise) Murano on Eclipse and S.S.United States on Infinity.

It's my favourite restaurant on board and the food is better than that in the MDR (IMO). Well worth the price tag, and there are often discounts available online.

If that's what you want to know, then yes the food is better than the MDR. It's just NOT as good as it was when it first opened 13 years ago.....

Totally agree with both restaurant observations. Actually would have been very disappointed if we had paid the full price for both these. We were given an excellent discount so felt it was okay for the surroundings and service. Specialist restaurants used to be amazing but, other than the surroundings we don't think there is much difference in food. Given a little notice the MDR will serve you something not on the menu. With friends from Florida we asked for Key Lime Pie - served following evening and delicious.

Of course, everyone is different and without trying you will never know ...........

Just book on board and wait for the discount!

We have been to the Normandie many times. Last time was last year, and it will be our last. Service and food quality has declined and the price keeps increasing. No longer worth it.
